Went along to a hen night last night and have felt depressed all day. Am a bridesmaid for a very old friend but over the past year have put on a lot of weight/ let myself go in terms of appearance all round really. Everyone else last night looked beautiful and glam.

Help me sort myself out as much as possible FlowersSad

I have access to a gym (work) and feel I have been given the biggest kick so will commit to whatever. Also very grateful for any grooming tips that can make a difference to how I look (and feel) within six weeks.

6 weeks is plenty of time to make a difference. If you are serious:

Drink tons of water every day
Cut down alochol
Eat lots of fresh veg, fruit, nuts, good oils
(This should all help with weight and skin)

Go to the gym as much as you can and sweat hard - do a combination of cardio and weights. Maybe a bit of yoga or pilates to help posture if its not great.

Get as much sleep as you can.

Do some nice things that make you feel happy in yourself - this will give you confidence.

A bit of grooming in the evenings, and maybe a haircut nearer the time and hey presto!!

Thanks tomato Flowers

I feel really silly but sad that I've let myself go (have had a very bad year or so) and it's like have only just realised

The thought of wedding pics is filling me with dread

Six weeks is lots of time! Can you start off at the gym with a couple of personal training sessions? It could help you get/stay motivated and work out effectively. Book a haircut for 2wks before the wedding. Start filing/buffing your nails and removing cuticles (just once a week) and they'll look lovely. I've started making an effort to give myself a mini pedicure (just scrubbing, filing and painting nails a nice bright colour) once a week and it does make me feel a bit more polished! Are these the sorts of things that feel manageable?

tomatoplantproject · 16/07/2017 18:43

You can do it!

It sounds like you're feeling a bit blue, and a few weeks of doing some positive things for yourself should make the world of difference.

Good luck and enjoy the wedding!! Xx

6 weeks is plenty of time to make a difference.

  1. Download My Fitness Pal and fill in your details it will help you set a calorie goal
  2. Buy a body brush and get scrubbing then follow with lashings of body cream
  3. Ditch the alcohol
  4. Eyebrow tidy/dye will make a real difference to your face, done well
  5. Aim to drink tons of water
  6. Fruit and veg
  7. Lots of sleep
  8. Download an app like Headspace to get 10 minutes of relaxing meditation

Can you do the Michael Mosley blood sugar diet? if you can commit to it then you will see a huge difference

GhostCurry · 17/07/2017 21:27

Do you have a bit of money to throw at it? If so, close to the wedding, get a quality spray tan (Vita Liberata is good) and either a lash lift or extensions. Couple of little last-minute lifts that will really pull your look together.

In summer, when I invariably realise I have once again failed to get in shape, I remember this: "if you can't tone it, tan it!" It sounds like you're much more motivated than I am, and you'll do great with the gym - but it's always nice to have a little help at the finish line x
