Youngest is starting school soon and I have an interview lined up where I've been told the dress code is smart casual. The meeting will be held in a coffee shop as its working from home based but it's been so long since I've interviewed and pre kids my career would have been suited and booted or don't walk through the door.

So help wise Mumsnet what passes as smart casual these days? Would a smart tailored dress be too much? Am I better going for smart trousers and a blouse/ tunic top or do I do smart jeans and a similar top?

I had a 'smart casualinterview a few weeks back when it was ridiculously hot. I wore some camel coloured loose, but still tailored trousers, a stroppy camisole and a light jacket over the top with flat sandals. Looked really smart and professional but not too stuffy.

Obviously a strappy camisole, not stroppy. Although it would t stay tucked in so maybe it was having a strop...
