I need a long lasting foundation

Any suggestions? I currently use L'Oreal True Match, but I find it doesn't last long on my skin.

My whole make up routine probably needs an overhaul. I do foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer. And while I don't want to look over done day to day, I feel that by afternoon, I'm looking pretty bare and crap again.

I wear a primer and setting spray for nights out, which makes it last slightly better, but i never remember all that on a work day Confused

Help me. I'm 35 and I'm feeling old and plain!

High end- urban decay all nighter is very long lasting and full coverage but with a lovely satin finish still with some glow. Get matched in store.
Cheaper- revlon colorstay again long lasting and full coverage. Matter finish.
Both are nicest applied with a damp beauty blender.

Lancome Teint Idole 24 hrs

tissuesosoft · 15/07/2017 22:53

Vichy Dermablend, best foundation I've ever had. 30ml tube lasts ages

Rufus27 · 15/07/2017 22:53

Estée Lauder Double Wear - even stays on with swimming. Excellent coverage and a wide range of shades. You can get samples from dept stores.

JustAMuggle · 15/07/2017 22:53

The Estée Lauder double wear foundation is amazing for long wear but quite expensive. Sometimes the products you use help make it last longer too, I used a beauty blender with my No.7 foundation today and it stayed perfect all day. Have a look on YouTube at some reviews, they're really helpful! Smile

Tootsiepops · 15/07/2017 22:56

Revlon colourstay is great. I'm 38 and have been using it for 20 years apart from a brief dalliance with doublewear

SirNiallDementia · 15/07/2017 22:58

I find using a primer helps my makeup stay on better.

Another vote for Doublewear as well!

Pawpainting · 15/07/2017 22:59

Ester Lauder double wear is the best. If you prefer less coverage, Mac Pro long wear is good too

Thealbatross · 15/07/2017 23:22

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look these up. I have some birthday vouchers for Boots, so can splash out a bit Grin

Lancôme teint idole is amazing
Brilliant coverage without looking Camry and lasts all day long
I applied mine at 10 am this morning, I've just got home after spending most of my day outside in the wind and rain and my make up is perfect still - no setting spray used either

ThatsNotAHat · 16/07/2017 07:24

Double wear. It's expensive but a small amount goes a long way so it lasts a decent amount of time.

I've been searching for the perfect powder to keep everything in place and so far the best I've found is the double wear powder. This is bad because it is really expensive!

LetZygonsbeZygones · 16/07/2017 12:20

Double wear light is the best I've ever used. I mix a bit with a few drops of argan oil and that makes it look desire but it still stays on and on. I tried their new one doublewear nude but whatever their claims re 24 hour wear, it was nowhere near as long wearing as DW light. I thought I loved it at first but in warm weather it transferred on to my glasses frames, phone and looked crap by lunchtime.

LetZygonsbeZygones · 16/07/2017 12:21

Makes it look dewy. Predictive text turned it into desire :)

velvetroses · 16/07/2017 12:27

Maybe try using a primer, I use the smashbox one which keeps my makeup on for hours on end.

chipsandpeas · 16/07/2017 13:42

double wear, it lasts all day and even through a zumba class it still looked good
i mix it with a touch of highlighter to take away the matte look

Thealbatross · 16/07/2017 13:42

LetZygones I like the dewy look and had seen the DW light on Boots and All Beauty, so I might give that a bash with the argan oil. Thanks!

I find personally that double wear light is too sheer and double wear is too heavy, I like clarins everlasting for full coverage that doesn't feel like a mask. Also touche eclat foundation is nice with good coverage but more "Glowy". It's all what suits you personally though, get some samples before you splash out.

MrsChopper · 16/07/2017 13:46

Try the L'oreal infallibleatte foundation. Lasts all day with a slight touch up. And I am the kinda gal makeup slides off from

LetZygonsbeZygones · 16/07/2017 14:44

albatross if you can get to a shop that sells estee Lauder they will match your shade and give us sample if you ask. It's too expensive to buy without making sure it does what you want and you like it.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 16/07/2017 14:51

I wouldn't buy foundation now. Chances are you're tanned and a shade or two darker than usual.

I would buy a cheaper option for the summer, TM or BB cream and buy a proper foundation mid September.

Thealbatross · 16/07/2017 14:56

Generally, a good point Chardonnay, but this summer, unfortunately I'm definitely the same pasty shade I always am Grin

Yes, II'll pop in to Frasers at some point this month and ask for a sample. Re the argan oil, would that just be the little dropper bottles that I can get in Holland and Barrett?

Thanks for all these suggestions!

I use argon oil as that's what i had to hand. I think you can use lots of other oils such as almond which is probably cheaper

Youranus · 16/07/2017 19:41

I've been wearing Double Wear for years and haven't yet found anything to match it for staying power or coverage. Have ordered this from the Boots website as it looks promising.

ThatsNotAHat · 16/07/2017 19:49

I like double wear light for a natural daytime look but do not find it has the staying power or the coverage of the usual double wear. So its good if I'm having a 'good skin day' and not subject to air con or sweat or anything.
