Sandals for wide feet

What the title says, really. I want some non-fugly, comfy sandals that fit my practically square feet, without spending a fortune. I want flattish but not totally flat: I have a pair of completely flat ones at the moment and they're not comfortable to walk far in.

Ideally I want dark brown or navy, but silver or gold would do too.

I don't even know where to start - every shop I've looked in assumes if you have wide feet, you want beige with elasticated bits. I would die before I wore beige.

I have silver Birkies. I also have a new pair of Swedish Hasbeens with Velcro straps but the straps are a bit uncomfortable at the mo.

ThomasinaCoverly · 15/07/2017 17:25

I can't keep Birkies on: I need something at the back to stop the sandal falling off.

New look sell wide feet options.

SnuffleBadger · 15/07/2017 17:39

I have wide feet too, I hate trying to find nice sandals. I live in Birkenstock mayari during the day, super comfy and despite no strap at the back they have never fallen off.

Are New Look's leather? I'd always just assumed they'd be plastic, but I have to confess I haven't looked!

I got super comfy ones from heavenly feet

FeiYenKansu · 15/07/2017 18:19

Have a look at the fit flop range.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 15/07/2017 18:23

Have heard lots of women rave about Saltwater (I think that's what they're called) sandals being comfortable and wide fitting but personally think they're fugly 😬

Beelzebop · 15/07/2017 18:36

Warning! New Look's wide shoes don't actually seem very wide to me. They are leather though sometimes.

hiccupgirl · 15/07/2017 18:50

I've had some success with Birkenstocks but after a while I get blisters on the edges of my feet from the soles. I recently got a gold pair in Hotter that aren't too hideous and also a pair a tan gladiator style sandals from the Clarks Outlet that are really wide.

My feet are only wide at the front so sometimes wide fit shoes are too loose at the back which is a pain.

I have a nightmare every year trying to find sandals, but this year, Dune's wide fit have been brilliant.

AnyFucker · 15/07/2017 18:52

Birkenstocks do a style with an ankle strap

I live abroad. I've got wide feet. I buy sandals from Carrefour and also Tino González. If you're travelling this summer or anytime to a place where there's Carrefour, have a look at the sandals. They're very cheap! They last well although you can't wear them for loads of walking (like a day's sightseeing) - fine for short strolls). Tino González you might be able to find on Amazon, eBay, etc.? Sorry if this isn't that helpful.

Kiwi32 · 15/07/2017 18:56

If they still have them in stock dune have exactly what you're looking for! My mum bought them earlier in the summer- slight heel, tan leather, wide fitting. V comfy!

thatorchidmoment · 15/07/2017 21:59

I'm a total saltwater fan and also the owner of wide feet. I can attest that they fit so well and I love them! I appreciate that some don't love the look as much as more enlightened folk I do, but they are leather and come in loads of colours. I had the tan ones and bought the rose gold ones this year. Adore both colours and my DD has the red ones which are gorgeous.

MrsPringles · 16/07/2017 09:28

I have New Look wide fit leather sandals and they are great. And only about 20 quid.
Definitely worth a look there

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 16/07/2017 15:18

Fly are brilliant. I get stopped in the street by admirers. I have Tram in red but they do brown too. Expensive but worth every penny imo www.flylondonshop.co.uk/womens/all-shoes/tram

Try Gabor and I've also found a really nice pair in Hotter ( no, really!). The Hotter pair get lots of compliments too.
