What's on trend for a night out?

Help me all fashionistas (sp?) going out with DH this weekend to a lovely restaurant (very trendy) and cocktails and wanted to wear something WOW and up to date.

I'm 45 so don't want short skirts/dresses and am most comfy in jean/trousers etc...

So what should i be getting dressed up in?

Cropped wide-leg trousers or culottes, I reckon. I got these recently and I love them:

Or do you read Jess Cartner-Morley's column in the guardian? She's good on recent trends. I'd have a read of a few of those.

Some nice trousers, maybe with a paper bag waist and in 7/8 length, and a very plain shell top could be good?www.theguardian.com/fashion/2017/jun/16/what-wore-this-week-paper-bag-waist-trousers-jess-cartner-morley

Or wide leg trousers?

Ritzy pool slides or plain flat sandals if you don't want heels.

Jeans and a Bardot top with some heeled sandals?

Hijacking somewhat to ask a pressing question: there seems to be talk about the jeans + sparkly top combo of the 90s coming back. Anyone seen it in the wild? www.harpersbazaar.co.uk/fashion/shows-trends/news/a42130/going-out-top-trend/

Thanks for those trousers links, been looking for some like that for a while! Smile
