Root cover up hair dye

hello all
I have a weird smattering of grey hair - some around temples and some kind of on under layers of hair.

I use root cover up because that little box/tube is enough for this, but I've noticed lately it needs doing more. I'm not sure if the greys are just becoming more resistant, or if I need to leave it on longer...or, are the root touch up kits made with weaker dye than the regular boxes of permanent hair dye?

also if I buy the box of regular dye, there will be lots left over (I can't see the point of putting hair dye on the hair that doesn't need), so how I dispose of that safely? Can I just tip it down the sink?

I am from forrin parts and basically have black hair so there's no real complication in terms of brands or anything like that.

thanks for any advice.

I use the hairspray with colour in it for roots, it washes out so you'll have to do it each time you wash your hair but I find it's brilliant.

I've a centre parting and this means I don't end up dying my hair all the time

Nice n Easy's root cover up is very good at covering greys but keep it on a bit longer than they suggest and it does the trick.

wow, speedy replies, thank you.

Windy, I will buy another box and try that then.

Bluedog, I wash my hair daily, go running etc, go everywhere by public transport and so on. I have wondered what happens to that stuff if you get caught in the rain etc? I'm not a brolly carrier so if I have to dash from bus stop or wherever while it's raining, at the moment, it doesn't matter if my hair gets wet, which puts me off the spray stuff.

Also I have this vision of being in a hot office (ours is boiling) and ending up like Frasier's dad with his dodgy hair colour and sitting near a fire place, if anyone remembers that one Grin

Agree with the spray stuff. It's really good.

buy a dye specially for grey hair and only mix half at a time so half a tube and half a developer. buy a mixing bowl and tint brush so you dont have to break the developer nozzle. will keep for a while.

What make is the hairspray? I haven't come across it before.

Thx

Ive had a browse in the shops and found loreal do a root spray but the can doesn't say whether it will last through getting wet, or through a run, I'm not a very sweaty person but the hairline could be an issue.

There do seem to be some dyes making claims about coping with more stubborn grey hairs so I could try those I guess.
