What to wear to wedding? Frumpy mum!

Hello, please help me!!

I am a size 12-14 and I dislike my figure. Small boobs but a mum tum and bum!

I don't dress up anymore ever. I haven't brought clothes since my 1st was born 4 years ago.

I don't really love weddings and I am pretty sure I will be one of the only young mums there. I am 29...not sure if that is young anymore! But I feel it.

I have a boho style I suppose. Not very fashionie!

What do I wear and where on earth do I get it from.?

I feel like a right plonker!

Thank you in advance.

Smile

Forget that it only starts at a size 16!

Hmm I'm not sure, what's the dress code? Wouldn't you be hot with those sleeves?

What about something like this? www.silkfred.com/boutiques/blue-vanilla/clothing/eryn-turquoise-floral-printed-maxi-dress

Also, eBay is a great place for nice clothes. Buy yourself a treat once in awhile. Wink

Dress code is lounge suits... So quite dressy! I am awful at this
Wedding in 3 weeks!

Thanks you for getting back to me.

eBay is a great idea.

Beautiful dress but not very me. Well I wouldn't actually know anymore! I might pop into the shops when the older 2 are at preschool on monday.

Hi, the last wedding I attended, I was unhappy with my figure (size 14 at the time) and stuck for ideas of what would suit me (was a skinny minny before DS), I went to Monsoon and tried on every dress in my size that I could afford, whether I liked the look of them or not. Got a very flattering dress that I would never have picked otherwise.

Could probably do the same thing in Debenhams, John Lewis, etc depending on your budget.

Goodnightsweetheart1 · 11/07/2017 21:12

I think your right. Going to the shops is a great idea. Just try it on and see I guess. I have been dreading it for ages but I won't to go and enjoy myself at the wedding. We never go out and it's without children so I can be non banana stained mummy for a day!

Any department stores near you that have a personal shopper?? Debenhams / John Lewis etc and it's usually free. Worth a try,

OlennasWimple · 11/07/2017 21:24

What's your budget, and what sort of colours suit you best?

Goodnightsweetheart1 · 11/07/2017 21:37

I would say £50 as I won't be wearing it much! And I guess greens are nice on me. I have brown eyes, freckly face and light Auburn hair. (Used to be very ginger but as I got older it's gotten less orange!)

Or blues and darker colours. Light colours often make me look pale!

Definitely try oasis - something like this? I'm the same shape and I have this In a different colour - www.oasis-stores.com/gb/clothing/dresses/long-isla-lace-shift/062402.html?dwvar_062402_color=21&position=122&cgid=dresses#page=11&start=122&categoryID=dresses

Whyhellodaffodil · 11/07/2017 21:45

Meant to say it's also really easy to wear - just chuck it on and it's got enough detail you don't need to worry loads about jewellery etc

OlennasWimple · 11/07/2017 21:57

How about...

This is a 12 will fit (wedding appropriate boho)

This patterned dress with helpful detailing over the waist

This lace one (needs trying on - the waist will either flatter fabulously or make you look like a sack of potatoes Grin)

This is pretty

[https://www.johnlewis.com/phase-eight-wren-floral-print-dress-multi/p3154907 Beautiful colours]]

Nto very boho but would give you a great waist

Fun and no need to worry about a cover up as well

Maybe too pale? I like the silhouette and the v-details

good if you like the look of separates

If you are good with accessorising (metallic leather belt and sandals, perhaps?)

Sleeves and bold print

Cotton! With pockets!

You ladies are bloody marvelous! Smile

Thank you so much daffodil it's beautiful.

Simple you have worked hard this eve. Thank you for all your suggestions
John Lewis looks like a good place to go.

I could just go straight for a potato sack and be done with it!!

I have been thinking lots and trying stuff on would probably give me a confidence boost. All these lovely skinny models!

That whistles dress is beautiful!! I am going to have to buy it now!

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 12/07/2017 11:23

I recently wore this (but in a raspberry colour) and I'm a similar size to you. I worried about my big old belly and didn't think I could get a dress to suit my shape.

It looked good on and at just £28 at the mo, it's a bargain too.
