How do I find a lipstick which suits me?

I am a bridesmaid in a few weeks and want to wear colour on my lips, but I have never found a lipstick that doesn't make me look either like a 4-year-old playing dress-up, or like a drag queen.

My hair is dark blonde (mousy with highlights, basically) and I have greeny-blue eyes. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I usually chicken out and end up in a nude or heather lipgloss, but I want to be a bit braver.

Coral looks hideous on cool toned/pink skins ime. Shame as it's so pretty!

Agree with others re Boots match. I have a heap of mistake lipsticks and using the colour match card found my perfect shade first time.

Op says that she only thinks she is cool toned. With mousy hair and blue/green eye with pinkish hues, its possible that you are warm toned (and coral may suit).

It was my first dip in to lipstick and felt safe - kind of brightened up my face without adding colour

Cool: Hints of bluish, pink, or a ruddy complexion.

Warm: Skin skews yellow, sallow, peachy, or golden.

Neutral: Has no obvious overtones of pink or sallow skin, but rather the skin’s natural color is more evident.

Unlikely to be warm according to this Paula's Choice guide.

Clinique Black honey was vile on me, it was a horrible (sludgy) browny red but not in a good way, I love coral lipsticks and I'm cool toned with red/pink undertones!
