Great black dress smart/casual?!

I'm after a black dress - I work in higher education and graduation is coming up soon so I'd like something that looks smart with both heels and flat sandals and also looks good under robes! Natural fibres would be preferable. Max budget £50 so if you've snapped up a recent sale bargain that you'd recommend, please let me know?! Alternatively a great black skirt, fit and flare/midi length would do the trick...

Your shape? If you are norky, Pepperberry occasionally have a few, but they are generally viscose for example.

I have just bought this dress from Lindy Bop, it's pretty stiff cotton, halfway between smart and casual I think. It feels nice on.

Love that Lindybop one (although not generally a fan of the big retro dresses often posted on here). What's their sizing like?

I think they're slightly bigger than normal, I bought a 10 and I'm a 12 with a size 10 waist, and it's a good fit.
