Help! Sally Hansen airbrush leg thingy!

We're going on holiday Tuesday and I'm having my annual pre holiday panic attack.

Days will be spent with me hiding under a parasol whilst DH and DC mess around in communal pool.

Evenings we'll eat out in nice French town. I need some colour in my milk bottle legs!!! Will Sally Hansen do the trick and is it idiot proof? I've never had anything less than a disaster with any fake take I've ever tried so let's not go down that route 😀

I like it as I've never had much success with fake tan either but I like the airbrush legs. I use medium glow, it is a bit sparkly I think but definitely makes my legs less white. I use a mitt to put it on with and rub in really well. Wore it all day to my brothers wedding and it didn't budge. I think if I can do it it must be idiot proof😀

Get to superdrug and get some skinny tan mousse and a mit. I'm converted - great stuff.

LizLemonparty · 09/07/2017 10:30

Thank you, Smile & Nod. Did you use the spray or lotion?

I'm worried the medium glow might be too dark?

Oh god, I hate hot places 😅

I have the Sally Hansen spray in whatever the lightest shade is and it makes my legs fluorescent! It says on the bottle to spray it on and leave but if I did that I would look like an oompa loompa from the waist down. It's ok when I use only a tiny bit and rub it in, but even then it can get a bit streaky/orangey. So no, I'm not a huge fan tbh, as it takes a lot of faff to make it look decent. Although if I get it on ok and manage to make it look decent it does stay put all night.

I use the darkest one (mixed race) and it's great! I spray onto the leg and rub in with my hands. Works for me. Just wash your hands afterwards!

TheFaerieQueene · 09/07/2017 11:07

I'm v pale and use the lightest one. It is effectively foundation for legs. I find it v easy to apply and I'm rubbish at anything fake tan. Less is more with it though. Don't over apply as it takes a vigorous wash to get it off.

RefresherBar · 09/07/2017 11:10

I'm crap at fake tan but this stuff is great. I spray on, or on to my hand then rub it in. It really evens out your skin and gives a nice subtle tan. It doesn't transfer on to clothing etc and washes off with soap in the shower.

neveradullmoment99 · 09/07/2017 13:21

I really dont get on with sally hansen. It makes my legs look orange. I think st tropez tan is great. Not sure about the skinny tan but i would like to give that a try. My favourite fake tan is St Tropez.

neveradullmoment99 · 09/07/2017 13:23

Since you are on holiday, what a faff it would be to use sally hansen. Better to fake tan first and then not worry about it. Once the fake tan has worn off, you will have a real tan -- hopefully!

TSSDNCOP · 09/07/2017 13:28

Shave, moisturise and then apply with a mitt. Don't spray directly onto leg as recommended. Super-easy and if you don't like it you can always wash it off. Stays put all day without smearing or making other stuff orange. I'm pale and wear the medium and don't look orange at all.

CaptainBrickbeard · 09/07/2017 13:33

St Tropez do an in-shower mousse which is brilliant and very easy.

Sammysquiz · 09/07/2017 14:57

I love it! The cream is loads easier to use than the spray.

LizLemonparty · 09/07/2017 16:25

Right, I've got the light one in a cream.

Thanks for replies - will update with results (no photos!)

Make sure you only get your legs with it, I stood in the shower and sprayed it on, some got on the tiles and it took a lot of scrubbing to get it off!

NomDePlumeReloaded · 09/07/2017 16:28

I like the squeezy tube version in the fairest shade. A tiny bit applied to well moisturised and exfoliated legs goes a long way. My top tip is wear gloves to apply, I wear latex type examination gloves. It stops my palms/webbing going a funny colour.

retainertrainer · 09/07/2017 16:41

If you don't get on well with it try palmers gradual tan. It's fool proof,no streaks and builds to a lovely colour. If you applied it every evening you'd look like you were tanning naturally. I'm super pale and this is the best I've found-it doesn't stink either.

Skyllo30 · 09/07/2017 16:44

Good choice with the lotion, the spray can get on the wall if you're not careful!

GhostCurry · 09/07/2017 18:10

I find the airbrush legs sort of opaque - as someone said, like foundation. I prefer the ones that are a really dark brown but transparent gel kind of thing, that (when spread thinly) allow the skin underneath to show through. The Sally Hansen stuff has coverage which is good for some people (veins etc) but I just find it so weird and prefer to see my own skin!
