Stupid question/advice needed about pressed powder/translucent powder

So I've bought a Rimmel powder (looks like a pressed powder in those round things). It says it's transparent. I thought it came with one of those flat powder puff things to apply but apparently not. Can I use a big fluffy brush type thing? And do I just sweep it over my makeup?

Am a bit new to this makeup malarkey, can you tell?!

I use the biggest brush i have and do it to set or tone down my makeup. It's a bit like soft focus.
