What product to scrunch into wet curly hair please?

My hair is naturally wavy/curly (read that as uneven curly and frizzy!) I Straighten it most of the time as I STILL can't find a product that I can scrunch into it wet and it define curls and reduce the frizz. I know lots say the boots pink curl but that isn't available anymore for some reason.

Please can anyone recommend a product? I don't want to do the whole 'curly girl' thing, just need a product that actually works!

Tia

Umberto G Flirty Curls gel is good.

AngelaKardashian · 06/07/2017 18:44

angela what make/brand is that? Where do you get it from? I don't mind spending if it's a decent product that works!

You can buy it here www.naturalisticproducts.co.uk/products/bounce-curl-light-creme-gel-with-aloe. It's an American product and a fairly new company so you can't buy it in any actual shops in the U.K. This is the only place I can find it in so far!

I use cantu curl activator and their define and shine custard. Leaves hair crunchy then you just scrunch out the crunch to get defined soft curls (am full curly girl)

Sorry, bit late but yes, just ordinary conditioner normally used for washing.

Bluebellsandsunflowers · 09/07/2017 08:07

I really like bed head small talk; I use about 2 1/2 pumps for my curls, before scrunching my.hair and finger twirling the curls that frame ny face for more definition.

But my top tip for reducing frizz - put down those straighteners! My dsis and I both find that the healthier our hair is and less damage our hair has, the nicer our curls look. I also really recommend hot coconut oil treatments; I massage it into my scalp and rub the excess through the lengths of my hair, before washing it out. I also really like the tressemme botaniques shampoo and conditioner, which I believe is silicone-free.

Second the umberto gianni gel (curl friends? Flirty curls? Can't remember the name but it a pink bottle), it's a good price and the hold is pretty good IMO.

I also have the deva curl gel. I like it and reckon it gives better definition but £££ and you have to apply it to v wet hair which doesn't always work with my rountine.

Ok thanks everyone. Do any of you curl your curls? I went out at the weekend and curled my hair as my curls are more uneven waves than curls, it was very hot and the curls all fell out! They don't normally! Any go to product when you know it will be hot that will keep the curl well?

I read recently on S&B about using coconut oil on wet hair- it's amazing. I have very curly/frizzy hair and have tried hundreds of products over the years but wish I had known about coconut oil years ago! I towel dry my hair and then rub a small amount of oil through the ends. My hair dries into lovely soft curls and is in amazing condition. Also 1litre is about £10 on Amazon and will last for months as only need a small amount.

I went curly at puberty too. I literally went outside at school from one building to another and went from straight to curly.

It became beautiful thick tight ringlets however after 5 children, breastfeeding and my age -46 it is now much finer and less curly.

Would do anything to get tighter defined curls with a little volume.

I got so unhappy with it that it is now in a pixie cut but during my hols I just let it dry itself and the curls are back..albeit I look like an old woman with a perm...😂

Am now going to grow it into a bob. Just would love some suggestions for products to use to add volume and definition.

To smooth, I've always used a little bit of boots pink cream on really wet hair then a little umberto gianini flirty curl scrunching jelly on mid-lengths to ends. Pile the curls upside down into a t-shirt and tie up like a washer woman for 20 mins.

I've recently started using John Frieda go curlier spray before drying upside down with a diffuser and wow - It's given me sooo much more volume!

If Boots curl cream is discontinued I will be genuinely devastated!! 😩

justkeeponsmiling · 11/07/2017 22:13

Haveyou me too!! I have only just realised, haven't had to buy it until now. I'm gutted. You can buy left over stockon ebay now, £15 per tub!
Thanks to this thread I have just spent an eye-watering amount on some Bumble and Bumble products, I hope they do the trick!

frenchfancy17 · 11/07/2017 22:22

I bulk bought the boots stuff and it does nothing for me!

justkeeponsmiling · 11/07/2017 23:03

Are you one of the ebay sellers then french ? Grin

mistlethrush · 11/07/2017 23:14

I'm using this at the moment and it's very good.

justkeeponsmiling · 11/07/2017 23:23

My hair seems to be the only curly hair on the planet that hates oil and goes horribly frizzy when I try and apply any oil based products, it's a nuisance

SwedishEdith · 11/07/2017 23:33

Wow, I've got an old tub of that pink Boot's curl cream in the bathroom. £££££££.

The only thing that has ever worked for me is pantene mousse, only the hold level 5, the 3 does not work.
It gives crispy curls at first, I never dry with a hair dryer, just crunch the mousse out when wet.
Gives me the best controlled curls, even some little ringlets when working well.
Even looks good after 1 day, just slightly wet and re-crunch in the morning, and still no frizz.

LesLavandes · 12/07/2017 01:55

I use Be Curly by Aveda. It seems to work on my very thick curly hair

Ampersand1 · 12/07/2017 08:14
