It looks like a streaky brown mess all over my body. If I use the mitt to smooth and blend it disappears completely- i.e. back to milk bottle legs. What's the right thing to do here? Do I need to worry? Or just assume that a shower will remove the streaky surface and reveal an even tan in the morning?

Update ...in case you were interested - shower this am, has removed the awful mess and actually most of the tan. Back to pale and interesting.

Oh no I've bought two tubes of Skinny Tan to use before I go on holiday did you get any improvement at all? It's so expensive and I hate to think I've been conned by their Facebook page reviews

Ambre Solaria dry mist is the best I've ever used- no rubbing or blending necessary!

RoseVase2010 · 08/07/2017 19:30

I'm pale and I've found Skinny Tan amazing, the mouse was easier to apply that the cream but quite dark so I just washed it off sooner than they said.

I've just tried Bondi Sands and it was crap, really disappointed. So much so I went back and bought the remover. Which is also crap 🙄

I found it quite streaky going on but ok after. Is it the gradual or actual tan?

I've recently started using Clarins drops. You mix a few drops to your body moisturiser and apply. I find it easier to mix in smaller quantities. Wash your hands well afterwards and apply a little to the backs of your hands. I've used St Tropez for years but prefer the Clarins drops for ease of use every few days and really rate them.

Sorry I wrote that post too quickly after showering. I did/do have a nice golden glow and would use again. I think I couldn't see it in the mirror I'd looked in. It faded from my face a bit quick.

When applying fake tan are you supposed to just evenly cover yourself making sure there are no missing patches but not worry if it looks streaky? I have always rubbed it until the streaks disappear. I did that with the skinny tan but the instructions say not to over work. I am wondering now if I have been applying it wrong all these years.

Hmm I do try and blend it but I kind of smooth it on with the mitt rather than rubbing it in if you see what I mean. I used cheap and cheerful st moriz last night . I'm just about to shower it off very lazy morning I've used all sorts but I quite like this one.

Theycalledmethewildrose · 09/07/2017 12:30

With regular St Tropez you just apply it and rub it in any which way. You don't have to worry about streaking. Just make sure you haven't left any area of skin white. When you wash it off, the tan will be even if you have exfoliated properly beforehand.

Yes I use a mitt and until finding skinny tan I was using st moritz which is amazing but skinny tan is more gel Iike and really hard to blend and even out. Am not sure if you are actually even meant to!

My dd uses Skinny Tan and loves it. She uses the mousse.

Another clarins drops user here. Awesome fool proof product.
