Just that really....

I agree with everyone - hit and miss, sizing is big, definitely a bit knit-your-own-yogurt.

I love it though. Grin

I hugged a massive sweet chesnut the other day.

I would not wear Joe Brown's clothes.

Maudlinmaud · 05/07/2017 16:31

@TerfwithaNerf do you know me? Grin

I adore the funky styles but certain items can look terribly frumpy and make my size 14/16 frame look horrendous. Always try it on first. Even different colours. A red version of my lovely grey tunic looked bloody awful and I looked huge in it. My grey one looked brill.Hmm

I have a few items and a wool patchwork tunic that is seriously flattering has bobbled rather quickly and the gorgeous flared short sleeved tunic has had to be restitched where the various materials have been badly sewn together and fell apart. I don't completely regret the £30 cost but I was annoyed that I had to pretty much sew it myself! Now I've stitched it though it looks fab again.

Online I think they look really naff - frumpy and twee and cheap, not funky. But have never seen in RL and each to their own.

Katinkka · 05/07/2017 20:59

Polyester is not nice. They are overpriced also.

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 05/07/2017 21:15

Was thinking of trying Joe Browns, glad I read this thread first!

Laiste · 05/07/2017 21:20

I've got 2 or 3 of their summer skirts. Not that swagged and hitched up ''gipsy'' style they do, but an A line one, a patchworky looking one and a floaty cotton one which is sooo cool when it's hot.

The other stuff i'd have loved as a teen in the 80s.

SealSong · 05/07/2017 21:45

I liked it in the nineties.

It hasn't changed much since then. Not keen these days at all.

Amethyst975 · 06/07/2017 08:24

I used to buy JBs clothes a lot. I still like their stuff but it seems to have got a lot more expensive??

Never had a problem with the quality but you wouldn't want to be much bigger than a size 10/12 for most things to look right. They also seem to be designed for girls/women with small boobs!

There are also a lot of very flowery things. I don't think they're as 'alternative' as they used to be.

Madhairday · 06/07/2017 08:29

I find the sizing a bit off. I bought a dress in a 12 which was massive round the boob area but super tight on the hips so sadly unwearable. Was so pretty too, I was gutted.

drinkswineoutofamug · 06/07/2017 09:13

I like joe browns stuff but only buy it in the sale.

I bought a cardigan from them , bloody hand wash, followed instructions and it's got holes in it. Like the cardi is dissolving!

It pisses me off that most stuff is hand wash

CosmoClock · 06/07/2017 15:57

overall I personally don't like the look but so much of what's in the shops is the same the same and their stuff is a bit different so I can imagine some people must think bingo here's my shop!

BusterGonad · 06/07/2017 18:53

I think it's a bit dated, and I personally wouldn't wear it but if you like it then wear it!

FriteFuaite · 06/07/2017 19:09

The accessories are lovely, tho but pricey!

Branleuse · 06/07/2017 19:18

sizing is never consistent and they dont do free returns, so I stopped using them. Shame really as I do like the look of their clothes

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 06/07/2017 19:20

A lot of their clothes are poor quality ripoffs of Desigual designs, and they're not that much cheaper than Desigual either, nowadays!

I've had a couple of nice coats from JBs, but I agree it's VERY art teacher and very try hard, 'look at me I'm so quirky'.

reuset · 06/07/2017 20:12

I did spot a nice cardigan once, but turned it round and found large red rosette thing sewn into the shoulder. They like their frills and frippery they do.
