Patent vs. non-patent leather shoes?

CarstieLou · 02/07/2017 16:13

Random question: do you prefer patent or non-patent leather for shoes? Why? Is it a matter of colour or style?

I am in the process of deciding what new pair of shoes I should invest on, so I'd love to hear opinions!

Thanks! Smile

Non patent. Patent can look cheap.

I find non-patent easier to polish and keep looking pristine.

Non patent. I don't think I've ever owned patent shoes.

I had a wonderful pair of charcoal grey patent pumps in the late 80s. Went with everything and were worn so much they died on my feet. They were Italian and very expensive, but I would buy another pair in a second if I saw any.

Real patent cracks.

I love patent.

I bought some Russell and Bromley shoes which are part patent. I love them and wear them for work almost constantly in winter.

I don't think I've owned a pair of patent leather shoes since I was about six.

nina really?? What do you mean? Even if you take good care of it?

I think it totally depends on the style, colour, purpose and the clothes they are going to be worn with.
