Mint Velvet wedge sandals

Can I wear these to a summer wedding? They're grey suede with a silver strap across the toes and a grey strap that goes across and down the foot to the toes. I'm having real problems finding nice sandals to go with my grey chiffon mid length dress (have posted before) and really like these but not sure if the espadrille style wedge is too casual for a wedding.

They sound really comfortable. I would wear them. Do you have a pic?

jeaux90 · 01/07/2017 19:32

No photo attached but they sound lovely! You could go all sorts of colours with grey though! I always think pink looks nice.

First time I've tried to add a photo so no idea if this will work

Well I can see it! My worry is that the heel isn't dressy enough for a wedding but they look like they would be comfortable enough to wear for a long day. I've looked at literally hundreds of styles online but don't think the sky high stilettos are practical (probably break an ankle) and the lower styles just don't look right. I love the idea of pink etc but just haven't seen anything that grabs me.

I wouldn't.

Wedges are too casual and Kate Middleton for me.

ChishandFips33 · 01/07/2017 21:34

They're lovely so I would but depends on the wedding

user1487671808 · 01/07/2017 21:59

The fact that they're quite casual never mind a bit KM is a worry but it's a vintage/afternoon tea style wedding so not a mega formal do. The ceremony is Register Office, the wedding breakfast is sandwiches and cakes etc then dancing later. The venue is both indoors and gardens weather permitting so being able to walk on grass is a bonus.

I think I might buy them. I really do like them and could see myself wearing them a fair bit in any case.

Thank you for saying they're lovely. I have very little fashion sense and live in skinny jeans, Mint Velvet is a brand I've seen mentioned on MN but never thought about buying as it's expensive and grown up. I'm late forties on the outside but mid twenties in my head and the same dress sense I had back then unfortunately.

I've just bought them, fingers crossed they fit. These are probably the most expensive shoes I've ever owned!

I think they are lovely and its important to be comfortable at a wedding. Plus I agree that you will get a lot of wear from them.

XiCi · 02/07/2017 09:21

Why do people trot out the KM thing at the first mention of a wedge even though there are a gazillion different styles of wedge shoes. I can't imagine KM wearing these in a million years.
OP they look ideal for the type of wedding you're going to and it's a real bonus that you will get a lot of wear out of them afterwards, go for it!

honeylou42 · 02/07/2017 09:25

Go for it ,they are ideal Smile

flumpybear · 02/07/2017 09:27

They're lovely!

UndersecretaryofWhimsy · 02/07/2017 09:30

I think they're lovely and would be fine with a nice dress at any wedding. I don't get the 'too casual' thing. They're hardly trainers or even flats, they're suede and quite bloody high!

Piratesandpants · 02/07/2017 09:33

They're lovely

Spadequeen · 02/07/2017 09:35

I love wedges and think they are gorgeous

ChishandFips33 · 02/07/2017 10:19

They are ideal for the wedding you've described

Enjoy your sandals and you'll be able to wear them for lots of other occasions depending on how you dress them up/down

user1487671808 · 02/07/2017 13:36

Thank you so much for the lovely positive comments. I bought them on eBay so just got to wait for them to arrive. They're ex display but described as perfect so fingers crossed they are. Rrp is £99 apparently and I paid £34.50 plus postage so I think that's quite good. I'm ridiculously excited about seeing them. My shoes are usually from places like Shoezone or a supermarket, these feel quite special and I think I will feel very smart on the daySmile

I think they might be a little too casual for a wedding because of the rope heels, sorry. When you picture them alongside men in suits and shiny formal shoes it doesn't quite match. It's a shame because they are lovely.

Doobigetta · 02/07/2017 13:54

Just re-read and seen that it maybe isn't a suits and shiny shoes thing- in which case maybe fine! Thry are very nice shoes. And as you say, wedges are great for walking on grass.
