5'3 Pear Shape Help!

thepetitpear · 30/06/2017 13:35

So as my name and title suggests, I'm a 5'3 pear. Generally a size 12 fits the most comfortably and my 'problem' area is my tummy and thighs. I'm really struggling to find flattering clothes. I'm pretty much at a low ebb with my body at the moment as I have gained approx. 9lbs since leaving my job in October.

I do want to lose weight and get my body in better shape but in the meantime, it would be nice to find clothes that look nice and flatter the body I have at the moment.

As an idea, Lena Dunham pretty much has the exact same measurements as me!

Can anyone give me any tips?

Depends what you are looking for. I am similar size/shape and my favourite shop is Oasis.

I've had a bit of luck with Dorothy Perkins Petite, and their jeggings, but I feel your pain...

Thank you, ALoveWorthKeeping.

A dress or two would be ace for a night out and then maybe a nice casual outfit for a movie and drinks with the the hubby.

I'm 5'4" & pear shaped - I find Joe Brown's or Wallis dresses nice to wear & flattering.

+1 for Dorothy Perkins, their jeans are the only ones that are half decent. New Look and ASDA are often good too. Randomly, Primark jeggings fit nicely.

Thanks ladies. I'll have a mooch!

I hate jean shopping as a short pear. They're always too big on the waist for a perfect fit on the thigh!

I've found topshop petite pretty decent for jeans but you need to size up.
I'm guessing because the whole big arse thing is fashionable at the moment!

Gosh, you are me!

I love Pilcro jeans at the moment (Anthropologie) size 31/32. Pricey but comfy,

You are the same as me, although I'm often a ten on top. I wear Levi's skinny and have for years now, fit my generous bottom but no waist gap. They used to be called Demi curve so now I just go in and ask for the equivalent. I try not too get really skinny ones unless they're to wear with boots, otherwise I get parsnip legs Grin.

Thanks for this thread. Going to copy down all these suggestions. I agree with Dorothy Perkins and Wallis.

I'm 5'4 and pear shaped. I wear a lot of trousers that are this kind of shape, with boxy tops in floaty fabrics like this.

I also have a dress like this and this kind of shape is very flattering on me - it highlights my waist but doesn't cling around my hips.

RedStripeIassie · 01/07/2017 07:10

Next petite do really nice jeans for 25£ beware though, they are short even on me who's 5'2 on a good day l

However much my weight fluctuates I'm always a 12 bottom even if I'm wearing an 8 top or dress but I embrace it.
