Foolproof fake tan recommendations needed to convert me please!

Purplerainbow · 29/06/2017 13:11

I have lost another thread I had asking if there were any new fake tans on the market that may convert me so have had to start another as I forgot to write down the recommendations!

I have found EVERY fake tan I have tried has gone patchy and streaky, faded in a blotchy manor and smelt vile. I think someone recommend skinny tan (but I don't know which one of that make to try) and I think bondi something??

I'm naturally pale so don't want old style mahogany st tropez! I would be greatful for any recommendations/tips!

I do ok with M&S mousse. The only thing is, it's really sticky till you wash it off, but once you do it looks great.
Look on YouTube for tips on getting tan even.

Pupsiecola · 29/06/2017 13:40

I'm naturally pale too. For a couple of years now I use the Clarins drops - there's one for the face and one for the body. You add it to your normal moisturiser. You can add as many drops as you want. I usually add two drops every other day at this time of year.

You might be better using a gradual tan op. Dove or garnier after sun with colour.

Make sure you exfoliate and don't shave your legs within 24 hours of using it.

newnameoldme · 29/06/2017 13:49

zentan from boots is best, clarins also not bad

Purplerainbow · 29/06/2017 14:34

Iv tried all of the usual gradual tanners and they either don't work or just smear!

I love the Garnier Ambre Solaire no streaks bronzer. They do a light shade which is great as you can build it up gradually. The cans spray at any angle and i never get a streaky finish. I have been complemented on my an a few times already this summer.

Purplerainbow · 29/06/2017 17:37

sweet do you have to rub it in?

OP have you tried the St Tropez In-Shower gradual self-tan? It's really good and I love that you wash it off so you don't feel sticky for hours.

Purplerainbow · 29/06/2017 17:46

No I haven't but very reluctant to try it to be honest as a lot of people have said it doesn't do anything.... Sod's law I will be that person! Plus st tropez always looks bad on my knees, wears off patchy and stinks!

I have been a fake tan addict for about 20 years ! And only found the perfect one a couple years ago...bondi sands!! Only the mousse, I found the spray was shit

Perfect colour and actually fades evenly.

Always remember to scrub like mad beforehand and wait at least an hour after moisturising to apply the tan. Use a mitt as well!

donners312 · 29/06/2017 19:30

I just bought skinny tan spray on oil. Its brilliant looks natural and no streaks. smells nice i will buy it again. not a fake tan expert have drawer full of the stuff every brand going. this is the only one i have liked.

jeaux90 · 29/06/2017 19:44

I! Second the clarins drops. Fool proof

user1486669405 · 29/06/2017 20:00

I am a walking fake tan disaster. Recently discovered the cheap st moritz. Is the best I have used so far. Least streaky and most natural but not 100% perfect. Also doesn't last long.

The st tropez shower one is crap and it's cold standing around for 3 mins.

Haven't tried skinny tan. Would be tempted if I knew it was as unstreaky as st moritz but lasted longer.

Purplerainbow · 29/06/2017 20:08

The skinny one and bondi seems to come up and I haven't tried either....

I'm very pale (ginger) and I love the bondi sands mousse . I use the light one a dleave it for an hour but my sister who isn't as pale leaves it on overnight

Ginmakesitallok · 29/06/2017 20:12

I'm really pale - I've been using skinny tan and it's fabulous - the gradual mousse is my favourite - but get a mit to apply, makes a huge difference

Purplerainbow · 29/06/2017 20:14

The skinny tan is quite expensive and last time I looked was sold out on their website so will have a look who else stocks it.

I use skinny tan mousse, pretty cack- handed putting it on but has never streaked. Smells nice. I double pump for each limb and have medium fair skin tone. Tan is natural not orange

applespearsbears · 29/06/2017 20:16

They sell it in Superdrug on bogof !

TittyGolightly · 29/06/2017 20:17

I'm loving St Tropez express (keep on for up to 3 hours) after around 15 years of avoiding fake tan.

Summerisdone · 29/06/2017 20:31

I'm a recent convert to Skinny Tan and I don't think I can go back to any others now. It's so easy, no streaks where as I usually always find a couple of streaks after application, and I'm loving the colour as I don't look orange like many make me look.

The 1 hour mousse one is the best IMO, but I've tried the 7 day tanner which is also great and my mum has recently just got the tan and tone oil which she says is brilliant too.

Bleurghghghgh · 29/06/2017 20:50

I bought the Superdrug 3 hour mousse a couple of months ago and I'm a total convert. It's less than £5, guide colour isn't too dark (I always wear it overnight) and the colour is lovely. With a mitt I'm off the beds

Purplerainbow · 30/06/2017 08:08

Ok so I'm going to try skinny tan first as need to do a Superdrug order... but other than the gradual tanner types there is no 'light' option. There is either dark or just normal. Will one that is 'normal' still be really dark? I don't want to do the gradual tanner or anything that I have to use every day... which one of them would fit that bill please??

The st Tropez one gives only a light tan after 1 hour. Although I'm naturally very pale and even after 3 hours it looks pretty natural.
