Anyone still using one of these and if so, what for? Are they any good?

Bumping, as I've got a couple of these stashed away, which I've not used and would be interested to know if they're any good...

singleandfabulous · 29/06/2017 11:30

Shameless lurking as I've got one I've been too afraid to use.

valeriej43 · 29/06/2017 11:39

I have one, and use it sometimes especially aroung mouth and eye lines,
I dont rate it at all,it makes my skin very dry, supposed to encourage collagen production, but seen no improvement at all
Maybe need one with higher spec,

Oliversmumsarmy · 29/06/2017 11:46

I was looking at these and wondered how many times do you have to use it to see results and does it hurt?

valeriej43 · 29/06/2017 13:27

To make any difference i think you would need one with longer spikes that make you bleed,
This is the kind salons use, as its the bleeding apparently that attracts the collagen, yes even the small spikes are very uncomfotable,
You can get anasthaetic cream to numb your skin a bit
Personally i wouldnt buy one again or have salon treatment
I think if they do work it would take a very long time and lots of treatments
I have usually used mine before bed, but wake up looking very rosy cheeked, but dry tight feeling skin,

Oliversmumsarmy · 29/06/2017 13:34

Looks like it is going to be a face lift and a tummy tuck then.

Was really pinning my hopes on this.

oigetoffmycheese · 29/06/2017 14:32

Hhhmm. Me too. Hoping my chin and tummy stretch marks could be sorted.

Shame as some people rave about them...but it's only ever people who are selling them Hmm😁

I don't see the point on normal skin. Anyone medical knows a cut in the skin causes scar tissue to be laid down.

lovemycatsanddog · 29/06/2017 23:24

Salons use really long spiked ones, which draw blood, then use vitc i think look on you tube, you will see, but imo useless
Would love a necklift, lol face not too bad

Oliversmumsarmy · 30/06/2017 20:31

Isn't the whole point is to draw blood then collagen is produced to heal the wound

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/06/2017 21:16

Yes, kinda. But the tissue it chucks over the wound is scar tissue.

The body's not great at producing new skin. It was there would be no scars from anything.

It's like breaking a bone & saying ooh you'll get new bone now. You will after a fashion but it's better not to break a bone in the first place.

I can see how it breaks up big scars because your essentially destroying tissue and a lot of tiny scars is better than one huge one.

I just wonder what these women will look like in their 50's.

Oliversmumsarmy · 01/07/2017 01:49

Isn't this for women who are 50s why would you use it when you are young

Personally if you saw my face and stomach anything that claimed to do something has got to be worth a try

It am well past 50

greenstripeytop · 01/07/2017 07:28

I had dermastamp done at a salon with local anaesthetic cream to numb my face. The result was really good (I'm in the second half of my forties), loads of comments on my skin afterwards. Would definitely do it again! Expensive and needed a couple of days to recover from what looked like sunburn. But worth it.Smile

CallingPeopleACuntOnFb · 01/07/2017 07:39

I've got one

I use it about once a month, i think it's helped my skin a bit

Fuckin hurts though 😭

innocentinfamy · 17/07/2017 18:19

Ooh can I bump this thread!
Would ideally love to hear some personal experiences.
I really want to try this, but don't know how to guarantee a good quality home derma roller.
I know you can buy them all over the net, but how to be sure of hygiene and authenticity.
Cost is a factor too as I'm somewhat financially nevermind physically embarrassed Blush
Help please

oigetoffmycheese · 17/07/2017 22:20

I'm still not much wiser and still unsure. But scared to do it tbh.

Am looking for random people on the internet to tell me it will be fine Grin

Same here lol.
Currently overdosing on Nadine Baggott, Dr Sam Bunting and Caroline Hirons vids on YouTube.
State of my skin now, I really haven't got anything to lose.

innocentinfamy · 17/07/2017 22:32

Oh and Wayne Goss too
