despite not having particularly sweaty feet they have now got a definite pong to them now . Not sure if they'd survive the washing machine and I hate that foot spray stuff they use at the bowling alley, it just seems to make the shoes smell of cheese and cheap deodorant. Has anyone got any good suggestions to get rid of the smell? Am reluctant to chuck them as they are so comfy!

Might give it a go then, I don't think I can wear them otherwise, wore them again today and could smell my own feet without bending down

I learned this trick on here last year, works a treat.
Wash in washing machine (delicates), but you can leave this out if you like.
Pop in plastic bag and put in freezer.
Leave in freezer for 24 hrs.
Defrost, and why dry I sprinkle some bicarbonate in as well.
They'll be fresh as when you bought them and will stay that way for absolutely ages too. The freezer kills the stink making bacteria.

Washing machine with napisan or that dettol laundry powder. I use with anything stinky!
