Short vs Long Hair - which one?

I have had long hair for 5 years now.... This is me: flic.kr/p/W7Hk2T

I think I am now a bit bored of the length, especially as I am only 5'1' and I don't think it is proportioned. I'd love to try a short cut like this: flic.kr/p/VRXig7 (ispired by Ghost in a Shell)

I have had short, edgy cuts before, but I am now 33 and worried it's not going to look as cool as it did when I was 25.... Plus, it needs to be professional enough for work. What do you think, could I pull it off?

Well, I went from bra strap length hair to a very short pixie cut at 50.
So age IMO really, really does not matter.

The pic isn't quite what I was imagining as "short" hair because at the front it's almost a long bob - but I see what you mean.

But you have a great face for short hair, I'd go shorter if I were you! Depends on what work you do but it looks fine to me. And age doesn't matter IMO. Have the hair that makes you feel happy and confident and it will work.

Now is the time to do it! I wavered about the long hair in my early thirties, had it cut shorter, now back to longer hair in late forties. If you think of your whole life of choosing hairstyles from say age 10 to 90, when is the right time going to be to have this cut? It is also not 'short' as in pixie or shaved, so if you don't like it so much, it's probably a few months of growing to get it back to v long bob again.

You have a great face shape for short hair as well.
