What is your 'summer coat'?

OK, so I usually think of myself as pretty well put together, clothes wise. However, I have one achilles heel - I have no idea what wear on the outside in milder weather. I have one light jacket which I love but it's an oversized parka so I am also looking for something a bit 'smarter' (but not frumpy or too smart iyswim)
I guess I am looking for a block-ish colour as I sometimes wear patterns - usually just stripes or leopard print. I've thought about a denim jacket but I wear jeans a lot. If it helps, today I am wearing a grey T shirt tucked in, high waisted dark jeans and leopard print air and grace sneakers.
Help! links or pics would be good.

I should add, I usually shop in places like H&M, Cos, ASOS.... I am quite tall and a size 14.

I have a couple of blazers but also want a long something. Like a coloured mac I suppose?

I wear a denim jacket but I do worry about the Status Quo look when wearing it with jeans.

I wear a raincoat from seasalt - mine is patterned, but if i had my time again i would choose a plain one. I bought it because previously i had to wear a berghaus anorak as my summer coat as i had nothing else and this made me so sad!!!

How about a khaki utility jacket? I have one from Hush which I wear with jeans all the time..

Bright yellow waterproof rain jacket - Warehouse

I'm in Scotland, so my leather biker jacket is worn all year round. I like it in summer with a midi-dress and trainers.

I have this. Goes with jeans, casual, smart. I luffs it. And makes you look just a bit 'Hollywood glam', according to many people - or 'like a lab technician' according to dp. I know whose opinion I'm trusting.
