Help mumsnetters!

I'm in my mid 30s and have never really worn make-up regularly. However, I would like to. I look washed out and tired all the time. The problem is, I don't even know where to start.

I have dark brown hair (going a bit grey), light brown eyes and pale-ish skin. Complexion isn't awful but prone to spots. No idea what colours of anything (lipstick / eye shadow etc) suit me.

What would you advise me to do? Should I go to one of the cosmetic counters - and if so, which one would you recommend? Any product I should try to get right to start with? Anything to definitely avoid?

Thanks for any guidance you can offer!

Go to a Bare Minerals counter in one of the department stores. I use their Complexion Rescue Gel Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, its like a moisturiser and light foundation in one. Get a primer too, to smooth everything. Blusher, highlighter, eye shadow , mascara and lipgloss :)
