Good place to buy a bikini for DD 14

Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy a bikini for a 14 year old. Styles of women's bikinis are either too mature ( what I would wear!) or fall into the too skimpy, barely there category. But I can't find teen bikini sets to fit her because she's a c cup, size 8 on top but has a teeny tiny waist. She needs separates. Any ideas?

Dd (15) got hers from New Look. its one of the geo pattern ones....Fluoro pink, black and nude etc

VintagePerfumista · 22/06/2017 15:38

I got dd one from Next eventually last year, after traipsing round numerous places with her horrified/disgusted/both at all of them.

It's orange fluoro and white with tie said pants and a halter neck, not quite a tankini top but almost.

tkband3 · 22/06/2017 15:40

My DDs got theirs in New Look last summer. The tops are ok, but the bottoms can be a bit skimpy, but as they're pretty much all sold separately, we were able to mix and match till we found something that worked.

troodiedoo · 22/06/2017 15:41

Debenhams have nice mix and match separates. Or the surf brands do less skimpy ones I think.

notafish · 22/06/2017 15:41

vintage I'm not the only one then.

Surf brands are a good idea.

What about this and then buy separate black tankini bottoms?

Dd bought a tankini top and popped it with black bottoms she got from Amazon for about £6.

For that age, once they start needing cup sizes, you really need to be getting women's bikinis. As long as they're not very sheer or showing bum cheeks, I'm ok with an underwired bikini top and bottoms for dd.

I think it's a Next "older girls". I got it online in the end and without asking her.

Some of the older girls stuff is a bit younger girl IMO but you might find something not adult-y

Allthebestnamesareused · 22/06/2017 15:55

I came on to say Debenhams too because they do different style tops and bottoms mix and match.

So skimpy spaghetti straps triangles v boy shorts etc.
Underwired v non underwired.

Bigger bust ones available too.

notafish · 22/06/2017 16:27

I don't think she'd go for that pink one. The kids ones are a problem because of the tops not being big enough. She'd probably fit an age 10 in bottoms! Bottoms are our problem. She needs a size 6 or an xs. But I prefer them to have a bit more coverage than most of the ones available at H&M - where there are actually some nice tops.

Roxy?
they usually have good boardies too.

IHaveBrilloHair · 22/06/2017 16:43

Though I will say my dd is only a year older and I wouldn't police her swimwear.
If she wants a skimpy one then so what.

angelcakesrule · 22/06/2017 16:45

My dd is 14 and got hers from new look, Matalan, primark

misscph1973 · 22/06/2017 16:47

I have got nice stuff for my teen daughter from Surfdome and Zalando.

Verbena37 · 22/06/2017 17:03

I still don't understand why you can't buy her a women's size 8 swimming costume?

OddBoots · 22/06/2017 17:08

ASOS have loads in the mix an match ranges.

notafish · 22/06/2017 20:11

She has a swimming costume which fits nicely - that came from Surfdome. Nice bikinis on there are more than I want to pay. Zalando is s good idea.

Probably the height of uncool but M&S have some nice ones in that have a variety of tops and bottoms. Like this pink one www.marksandspencer.com/colour-block-plunge-bikini-top-b-e/p/p60104177?image=SD_02_T52_6530U_A4_X_EC_90&color=PINKMIX&prevPage=plp
Comes with boy short bottoms etc. Worth a look.

Hulababy · 22/06/2017 20:27

DD is 15y and we have got her bikinis from Surfdome and Asos more recently.

Redken24 · 22/06/2017 20:29

Tankini or retro style swimsuit -covers a bit more. I usually get mine of eBay outlets .

theredjellybean · 22/06/2017 20:31

Boux avenue... Underwired cup size tops bottoms sold separately... Good sale

DubiousCredentials · 22/06/2017 20:37

Birdsbeesandtrees · 22/06/2017 20:38
