Bum bags

So... Have been looking at pics of all the young 'uns arriving at Glastonbury and noticed that the place is awash with bum bags!
Is this a thing again or has it been a thing for a while and I've been too old and tired to notice?

I have a bum bag for festivals and concerts when I have standing seats.

DramaInPyjamas · 21/06/2017 17:58

Great for gigs to keep your phone/money/ticket safe in front of you.

Not neon 80s ones though Grin, I have a black leather studded one which is quite subtle and looks nice

I've just been on holiday and it came in SO handy!!! For my phone and money when on the beach But would not wear it out now to the shops etc.

I bought one for Peter Kay's Dance for Life so my hands were free to dance.

It was both a revelation moment (aha, this makes life sooo easy for dancing) and a mortification moment (I cannot believe I am wearing this.)

But I was surrounded by thousands of people dressed in 80's fashion also sporting bum bags dancing to 80's tunes. Was a blast. I have saved it for next year.

toffeeboffin I remember seeing a sign for 'fanny packs' on holiday in the states. It amused me greatly for days. Easy pleased Wink

Fanny packs GrinGrin
Reminds me of a trip to an American theme park where we were on a bumpy wooden roller coaster. As the ride came to to a halt, the American lady in the car in front loudly exclaimed "ooh, my fanny" in reference to how her bottom had taken a bit of a battering over the bumps. I was a bit Confused until my friend pointed out that fanny=bum, not fanjo, in the US Grin.

Maudlinmaud · 22/06/2017 08:16

I noticed them in music videos the teens watch. So yes they are definitely back. I've noticed a massive trend for younguns playing really loud music from somewhere on their person. I'll look closely today and see if they wear a bum bag because that makes sense Confused

silkpyjamasallday · 22/06/2017 08:31

They have been around for at least 5 years now amongst my peers, so early 20s, mostly the sort of people who spend practically their entire lives at festivals. I found a lady on Instagram who makes them from recycled mink coats and they look amazing! I'm quite tempted to get one as it would be easier than faffing with a handbag when I'm out with dd in the pram.
