I'm thinking of getting hair extensions - I've heard the micro-rings are the best... could anyone possibly share their experiences re how much they cost, how long they take to put in, did you love/hate them etc???
I work a lot so as yet I have not had time to get to a salon for a consult so in the meantime I was hoping someone here could help?
TIA x

I've had them 4 times OP, and I love them, but they are a faff.

The most recent time, I had mine bright blue, so took them away from the salon, and dyed them myself, then they put them in.

From memory they were £400, for European cuticle correct hair.

I think it took around 4 hours to put them in, but I honestly can't remember.

You have to either put them in a high pony, or ideally pleat them each night before sleeping, and you can't let them air dry, you must use a low heat with the hairdryer (dry shampoo will become your new best friend). I also used to use the shower hose attachment, and only wash the top of my hair when I was in a rush.

You'll need to get a soft hairbrush too, so you don't pull the bonds out when you brush.

Mine got very matted, so took ages to take out, but I didn't look after mine as well as I should have.

My own hair wasn't damaged at all.

Brilliant house - thank you! Did you have to pay a deposit when you booked? I've read a lot about Indian hair or European - one being better then another... I'm so confused actually. I just don't want to spend a lot of money and end up with a rubbish product, I'd like to walk in and know what to ask for and know the salon knows what it's doing. I'm sure it does, but the more I know the better if you see what I mean Smile

I didn't pay a deposit as such, I paid for the hair, because I was taking it away to dye it.

It really depends on your own hair, my hair is European, so that was the best match (European hair is a lot thinner than Asian hair)

I think your best bet would be do get some local recommendations & go in for a consult & get some info from them.

I've had them but they didn't suit me mainly because my own hair needs straightening and I found it hard to do in between the beads. However I did like the LA Weave which is a weft of hair attached with microbeads. So again no damage to your own hair!

Hi OP, I have had micro ring extensions for around 2 months now. I do love them but they are very high maintenance! I've had mine really long so they are all the way down my back though. Mine were around £500 and took around 3 hours to do. Just went for my first maintenance appointment yesterday and that alone came to £80! All it involved was taking out the rings, combing my dead hair out and then putting them back in!! Didn't realise it would be that expensive. So if you are considering it just be aware it's an ongoing expense and all the faf of looking after the hair. Saying that, I do love mine and feel so much more confident in my appearance. Hope that helps a bit !
