Make up in the heat

How do you do your make up when it's so humid that your face is wet within minutes of getting out of the shower? I tried tinted moisturiser last night but it just sort of separated and left me with lots of colour around my hair and jaw line but still a blotchy mess of a face.

I tried using a bronzer with a brush but that just made the brush clumpy. Don't even get me started on the "waterproof" mascara.

The stupid thing is I sometimes don't bother with foundation in the winter but the hot weather brings out my melasma and I get really self conscious.

I've been using a powder foundation and clear mascara at the moment. Everything else seems to fall of my face the moment I step outside.

I will try powder today - after the bronzer failure I didn't want to risk my kabuki!

Urgh I feel your pain. I feel the heat badly and sweat at the slightest hint or warmth.
For waterproof mascara - have you tried Too Faced Better Than Sex waterproof, Debenhams sell it. Lasts the best I've found, though admittedly not perfect.
Primer under the foundation, light powder in on top and a make up setting spray over that, get a good one they do make a difference. I'm avoiding make up where I can though.

Mac translucent finishing powder is great.

Try smudge proof rather than waterproof mascara as sweat/ oil can still affect the waterproof type. I am using Loreal Volume Millions. Doesn't give lovely thick lashes but it stays in place and is better than nothing - not the most enthusiastic endorsement but anything that looks better initially, ends up all over my face after a few hours.

Apparently a fixing spray is what we need Confused I was mindlessly reading A Thing on Yahoo about how to deal with heat.

I've never used the aforementioned alchemy so can't actually recommend it.

Chanel Tan de Soleil is what you need. It gives a lovely, glowy base without being actual foundation so doesn't slide off or end up halfway down your neck.

Also, get your lashes tinted. Saves having to wear mascara and makes life just better.

whooo Tinting is a waste of money for stubby lashes sadly. They stay stubby but slightly darker.
I think the only realistic solution is a team of slaves to gently spritz me with Serozinc spray whilst simultaneously wafting me with a large fan.
La Roche Posay do a sunscreen spray which you apply on top of makeup. Haven't used it but I wonder if it helps avoid that heavy SPF feeling or if it feels refreshing to use throughout the day.

I've been using Charlotte Tilbury's new unisex tint and I must say it's lovely. I'm not sure if it's on general sale yet (I got it early as a VIP customer - yes I have a shameful horde of CT products
Blush).

It's white out of the tube but colours to the right shade when you use it.

I was using Bobbi Brown tinted balm with SPF and do like it but I think I prefer the CT one, though it has no SPF (I just make sure I use a moisturiser with SPF before).

I've then been using a CT beach stick on my cheeks, a bit of CT's colour chameleon eye pencils, a waterproof mascara (drugstore, think it's maybeline), benetint on my lips with a bit of burts bees coloured lip balm on top and finally a bit of powder to set it (Bobbi or CT - whichever gets to my hand first).

Seems to wear pretty well in the heat tbh. The CT eye pencils are great, you get a bit of play time but once they set they really last brilliantly.

I have heard good things about Charlotte Tilbury. I use the La Roche Posay sunscreen but I might look at getting some of the Chanel Tan de Soleil - sounds just like what I need. Cooler today anyway so back to a light dusting of Lily Lolo powder.

Brow and lash tint plus gradual facial tan. Make up just slides off.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 21/06/2017 09:28

I have melasma on my forehead ( and look shit with a fringe ) and I don't bother with foundation in this heat: I use fake tan which evens everything out a bit -although darker, which might not be what you want-
Then Serozinc to stop oil and then blot everything with a good translucent powder (I use MAC select sheer, again in a darker shade) I find that over the day the powder and my natural oils sort of meld together in a foundationy way and give just enough coverage.
Could work?

LizTaylorsFabulousTurban · 21/06/2017 12:51

Lady me too, well my temples, and on my cheekbones. When I first started I thought I was finally getting freckles (I used to be so jealous of freckly friends when I was small). Now I'm just blotchy.

I tried Benefit Hoola Bronzer last year which looked lovely and coped with the Mediterranean heat when on holiday, but the humidity just stops anything sticking to my face. I look so glamorous - how do some women look effortless fresh whilst I look like a glistening blotchy Cabbage Patch doll with steamed up glasses and a sweaty top lip?

Answer I don't know! I used to use foundation/powder but find now I am mopping my face up so much most of it gets removed. Now I am just using eye and lip make up. My skin is not too bad though I would prefer to use some concealer but a bit pointless really. Oh and when not sweating like a pig, my eyes run anyway. Does not disturb my waterproof eye make up but tends to make make up crusty around my nose (if wearing powder). Always wear waterproof eye brow pencil too!
