Summer trousers for the terminally picky.

I have some linen trousers that are on their last legs - flat fronted, wide leg, don't need a belt. Reasonably flattering, and incredibly comfortable in the heat as nothing digs in and the fabric is light. They came from Boden about twelve years ago; the navy pair gave up the ghost last summer, and the turquoise pair is giving up now. I want to replace them but can't see anything that will work. The replacement must be:

  1. Loose fitting without being completely shapeless
  2. Made of natural fibre (cotton, linen, some kind of mix that's mainly one or the other)
  3. Lightweight - not denim or chino fabric
  4. In a plain colour that isn't white or very pale (I attract grass, tomatoes and sticky small children, and I have to travel on the Tube)
  5. Not have a stupid waist that will look dated by next week and make me look like a sack of potatoes, even if this week I'm an on-trend sack of potatoes.

Ideally they would also work on someone of 5'2" without needing alteration, but I don't ask miracles: I don't mind paying to have them shortened.

I'm a size 8 and curvy. Is there anything out there?

You will no doubt hate them but I find sainsbury pretty books for wide leg mid blue linen trousers, they do short too.

Books!? Effing Hell! GOOD!

It's worth checking eBay to see if anyone is selling the exact same trousers. I recently replaced my favourite jacket that way - I bought the original over 15years ago & the one from eBay looked brand new.

mybrainhurtsalot, that was really helpful, actually: I didn't find my existing trousers, but I did find some nice ones in natural fibres that are a lot better than anything I've seen in the shops! Thanks.
