The Ordinary - which acid for my chin?

Zeropiddledwhilehomeburned · 18/06/2017 12:39

My chin is prone to blocked pores (generally small whiteheads and blackheads) which give it a delightful bumpy & rough appearance. I think an acid would help (??) but knowing nothing about them, I don't know which would be best. Salicylic? Glycolic? Something else entirely?

Would appreciate any help! Thank you!

Can I highly highly highly highly recommend Nip & Fab glycolic scrub. I cannot recommend it enough. Your skin feels FAB afterwards and on until the next day.

I use it every single day because my skin just doesn't 'turn over' - it doesn't release dead skin cells and I've used LOADS of creams and stuff - this is by FAR the best.

You only use a little bit each time so it will last for ages.

Neutrogena black head remover scrub,it's quite amazing, works a treat on teen ds.

Salicylic acid. It is oil soluble so will clear pores (glycolic dissolves 'glue' that bonds skin cells so better for skin turnover). You need to ensure the product is formulated at right pH or acid doesn't work though (around pH 4). No idea about The Ordinary formulation. I use Paulas choice bha as I know it's well formulated.

I'm similar. I got recommended niacinimide, hydrochloric, azeliac acid, and advanced retiniod. I'm umming and arring about adding salysilic. Sounds like a lot when I write them all but they do help.

hollieberrie · 18/06/2017 13:09

You need salicylic. Best is Paulas choice 2% BHA. You can buy a trial size bottle which is much cheaper to see if you like it.

I use the products Fanny listed and my skin and chin in particular have never been clearer.

Talisin · 18/06/2017 22:20

I'm thinking (hoping!) Fanny meant Hyaluronic acid rather than hydrochloric. Because that would be bad. Really don't do that.

I am using the Azelaic acid and love it- it gives an instant smoothing and brightening effect and I think it is making a difference longer term too.
I bought nicotinic acid and retinoid from The Ordinary last week but can I use them together? fanny how do you combine them? My skin is prone to being very oily.
I use BHA from Paula's choice already. Has anyone used The Ordinary version? Is it any good as it is loads cheaper.

Talisin Grin Me too!

I've had a bad experience with Paula's choice BHA which really damaged my skin on my nose (the only place I used it). I use Skinceuticals CE Ferulic serum now and it's amazing.
