Wedding guest maxi help please

Actually it doesn't have to be a maxi but I'm hoping to hide in it.

I have a wedding coming up soon. It's DH's friend rather than mine, but his friends and an ex of mine will all be there and I'm fat and grumpy these days, so would rather blend into the background.

I'm a size 16 and not very tall. I want something that isn't going to make me look too much of a beast. I suppose it ought to be dressy but really I'd prefer something I can wear again. Any suggestions please?

A jumpsuit would be a lot more stylish. There are lots around and you would look slimmer ! Try navy. Accessorise with white and a splash of a bright colour. You could add a waterfall jacket for covering up. Also add a decent necklace or earrings and smile! Get you hair done too! Then you won't be grumpy!

Oof, no! I'm a shortarse 16 and jumpsuits make me look like a sack of shit tied in the middle. This may not be the case for you OP if you're small of nork and hip but if you've got boobs tummy and hips then empire style maxi all the way.
Wallis petite always works well for me- also Monsoon do regular and petite lengths in maxis. A snug cardigan/ shrug for cover up ( again I can't do waterfall due to boob size) will cover any other bits.

I would emphasise your curves. A skater style or fitted dress makes the most of your shape whilst hiding any tummy, hips etc. A flared skirt also slims the legs. A vintage look, maybe like this- ( although this model is much bigger than a 16.)

Thanks for the suggestions. While I admire the 50s look I couldn't pull it off. Empire maxi sounds ok though. Anyone come across any?

I got this for a wedding - Carly dress and I'm a 16. Highlights my good bits and skims over my giant arse and thighs. Smile

I recently bought this and it's so flattering. I'm a 10 but curvy and it hangs beautifully. It's maxi length on me at 5'5. I'm planning to wear it to a wedding in August with coral sandals.
