Watching with interest! I am terrible at this, although I always think I would like to wear more maxi skirts and dresses, play suits...

hellokittymania · 14/06/2017 19:54

I'm used to much hotter climates of the UK, so I can go out in jeans and be perfectly fine. What about some cool cotton dresses? Long shirts with leggings?

ShatnersBassoon · 14/06/2017 19:56

In Britain, just normal clothes but fewer layers. Trousers and a light top today, and a denim jacket at either end of the day when it was decidedly not hot. Shorts on rare hot summer days.

Proper forrin hot, I wear shorts and vests, loose blouses when I want to cover, loose dresses and skirts. Obvious stuff. There is very little style to my hot weather dressing.

Asmoto · 14/06/2017 19:59

Loose cotton maxi dress, or cotton skirt with a vest top/t-shirt. I like crochet-style shrugs as a cover-up. I'm not particularly stylish, though.

Laquila · 14/06/2017 20:00

I wore boyfriend jeans today and was so glad I wasn't wearing skinnies!

I tend to stick to either chino-type shorts or denim shorts; hareem pants; boyfriend jeans; the odd maxi skirt/dress and cotton peasant-type skirts on hols. Tops-wise I have a few loose sleeveless tops and scoop-neck pocket tees. I tend to go for scoop-neck sleeveless tops when on hols, or the odd spaghetti-strap vest if I need to avoid tan lines (although I rarely feel stylish in the latter!)

In fact I'd be interested to know WTH stylish women who don't want to get dreadful tan lines do wear??...

OlennasWimple · 14/06/2017 20:01

Properly hot is maxi dresses, loose cotton blouses and linen trousers.

Shorts are OK, but having skin exposed is usually hotter than covering it up

Tanaqui · 14/06/2017 20:01

Today i wore a cotton shift dress (navy with a blue pattern), from Asda on a recommendation from here last year!

Otherwise usually more structured summer dresses for work, skirt and vest for shopping/ pottering, Capri trousers or cropped jeans for dog walking, white jeans if I haven't shaved my legs!

BreezyBreeze · 14/06/2017 20:11

Chinos, tees, dresses, tube skirts and shirts, more dresses, midi skirts.

allegretto · 14/06/2017 20:13

At the moment it is ridiculously hot and more importantly, humid where I am. I am mainly wearing loose cotton trousers and loose cotton tops. Still too hot though!

Floisme · 14/06/2017 20:14

Agree with Olenna about covering up: long sleeved shirts and trousers in cotton/linen/silk. Fairly loose fitting. Much cooler than bare skin in the sun.

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/06/2017 20:31

Jeans and a top, dress with tights or long socks.
It's never that hot here really.
I have to laugh a wee bit when people say, "ooh wear linen trousers, cotton knickers and a floaty top", like it'll stop them being hot and almost provide air conditioning.

Judydreamsofhorses · 14/06/2017 20:38

Today I wore black wide-legged cropped trousers, a striped t-shirt, and black brogues. I also like pleated midi-skirts, and midi dresses, but the endless leg shaving is a pain.

oobedobe · 14/06/2017 20:53

I live somewhere hotter than uk, summer dressing is usually -
Super casual around the house/beach, shorts/vest tops/flipflops
Slightly more put together is usually, white jeans/denim/linen shorts with floaty top, nicer sandals, or light weight jeans rolled-up
Also a couple of cotton dresses if I want to look a bit smarter/more put together.
For evenings I tend to like longer trousers or maxi dresses to avoid bug bites, so dressier jogging type bottoms with a vest top/denim jacket if cooler, pretty sandals.

calzone · 14/06/2017 20:57

I love my summer wardrobe.

I wore black cigarette pants today with an orange wrap top and orange wedges.

Tomorrow I'm wearing a long pink and blue maxi dress.

Laska5772 · 14/06/2017 21:05

I wore this today .. have it in the pink and the green].

I have this in blue for my Greek holiday. We go back to same place each summer and when I am over there I usually live in kaftan/ beach dresses (so much cooler than shorts and tops) and wear jersey maxis in the evening ( to protect my poor legs from mossies ! )

Chipsahoy · 14/06/2017 21:06

I don't get the issue with shaving legs? I shave mine daily all yr around. Takes a minute tops in the shower each day. Dont bother with shower cream, just run the razor over my legs after soaping up.

That aside, I wear skater skirts and dresses mainly. Shorts and t-shirts sometimes, I rarely have bare shoulders as I burn a lot.
I love clothing this time of yr. Chuck on a dress and sandals..go.

Laska5772 · 14/06/2017 21:12

this linen mix dress from Next is also really nice and good value I think.. I have it in the blue floral

UsernameInvalid66 · 14/06/2017 21:13

I like to cover up. Light coloured loose trousers or long skirts, light coloured long-sleeved t-shirts or very thin shirts. I probably don't look my best in so much shapelessness but it beats having to slap on half a bottle of factor 50 every time I go outside!

BusterGonad · 15/06/2017 08:49

I tend to wear dresses made out of jersey material, or long thin denim shirt dresses. Other than that my usual jeans and tops.

PNGirl · 15/06/2017 10:21

Loose tapered trousers - today's look like these but in a black and white print:

www.next.co.uk/g502150s1#945838

With a fitted t shirt or vest (red today) and some flat leather sandals. I work in a casual office though.

LardLizard · 15/06/2017 10:23

Thanks for the ideas, in all honesty I don't think some of these dress would suit me as I'd look like a sack of potatoes need for me, something a bit more shaped/fitted

Gonna have a sort through my wardrobe later today

I have discovered jumpsuits this year. Yesterday was hot & muggy I wore this jumpsuit,
m.newlook.com/shop/womens/playsuits-and-jumpsuits/mela-navy-floral-zip-front-jumpsuit_524896041
lightweight crepey type material (dries quick and doesn't need ironing bonus). I find it very easy to wear whilst still looking (IMO!) reasonably stylish. Dresses up with wedges/heels, down with flip flops or flats.

toffeeboffin · 16/06/2017 02:01

I never wear maxi dresses, they look terrible on me.

Today I wore harem shorts and a short sleeve Lévis t-shirt. It was only 23 degrees though here.

Proper hot and I wear a cotton dress.

I hate dressing for the heat, I'm way more comfortable when it's cool.

AtticusCactus · 16/06/2017 03:00

I live in a hot country (although it's winter here at the mo so sitting here in fleecy jumper, trackie pants and Uggs looking divine Grin ).
During the summer where it can be 35+ for weeks on end. I wear thin jersey material shorts, loose t shirts and flip flops. I tend to wear the same thing over and over and can't be doing with close fitting clothing in the heat.
