Hello :)
I have an outdoor summer wedding next month...I have a dress but don't know if it's smart enough?
Im thinking of these sandals but really have no idea on a jacket/cardigan/shawl and other accessories.

Can anyone offer any advice? I'm pretty low confidence and haven't been to a wedding since before my 3 DC were born!

I like those sandals for a summer wedding! Could you post a pic of the dress? If you think the dress could be too casual could you jazz it up with some jewellery?

AIMGA · 12/06/2017 19:38

Thanks for replying. I don't own any jewellery so wouldn't know where to start really...this is the dress

the sandals are lovely, but I don't think that the dress is smart enough (unless it's a casual wedding, but then I guess you wouldn't be unsure about it?). I'm also not sure what cardigan / jacket would look good over that dress either.

What sort of dress are you after? Colour / pattern / covering up which bits / showing off which bits / budget?

AIMGA · 12/06/2017 20:26

I think you have confirmed my fears...the dress really isn't formal enough. The bit that worries me is that I have no idea how to start 'dressing it up'. It is a relaxed wedding but not casual.
I think I will go back to town tomorrow to look for something smarter - thanks for the replies x

Sorry for my delayed reply! I'd say the same, probably not quite smart enough. Could you look for a print dress maybe? Good luck!

Or this:

I have the above for a similar style wedding this summer.

I am going to a wedding soon and have bought this dress:

m.johnlewis.com/precis-petite-border-floral-dress-black-multi/p/3214299?sku=236856784&s_kwcid=2dx92700020253084732&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=COfS7brxu9QCFeEy0wod4eIMhA&gclsrc=

My criteria was: something I could dance in; wear a little cardigan or jacket with for evening; bend over in to tend to DCs without flashing everything; and not crease too easily (as we are travelling up the night before); be comfortable enough to eat in! After trying on about 10 dresses and feeling very despondent the personal shopper at Debenhams took pity on me Grin

elektrawoman · 13/06/2017 23:47

I like the dress you posted but could see it being good for a summer BBQ type party, probably not dressy enough for a wedding.

AIMGA · 14/06/2017 09:52

Eeek! Summer BBQ! Definitely not how I want to dress for lovely friends wedding. It isn't v formal - no sit down meal etc however she has put a lot of effort in and I don't want to look as though I couldn't be bothered to dress properly!!

Really like the dress suggestions..also looking at the Hobbs sale too... thanks Smile

The sandals are lovely! They look perfect for a non-formal wedding - more casual than heels but dressier than birkenstocks 😄

AIMGA · 15/06/2017 15:53

Any thoughts on these dresses? I would have to rethink the shoes if I went with one of these I think..but need flats as will be baby wearing dc3 (7months)

Or these? Are any of these a definite no? I feel really out of touch...used to be so in to my clothes and now just wear a mum uniform everyday!!

I like all the dresses, but not sure that they all go with the sandals - eg the last one looks quite formal, and the yellow Jacques Vert one looks like it needs a bit of a heel with it. Personally I'd steer away from a gold dress with silver sandals

the white and blue patterned one could be good, if it's not too white IRL.

puddingpen · 15/06/2017 16:07

Personally I would avoid the sparkly ones. I would consider them acceptable for a winter wedding but too 'eveningy' for a summer one. All the other dresses would look lovely and would go very well with the sandles.

hazeydays14 · 15/06/2017 16:17

I like the Gina Bacconi dress from the first lot is gorgeous and any of the floral ones would be lovely

I agree the glittery ones are quite winter wedding/Christmas do-ish and personally I'd go for one of the others.

AIMGA · 15/06/2017 16:18

Ok have discarded the sparkly ones as i agree - they look wintery.
That leaves the two floral print, yellow lace and the nude net dress to whittle down.
I think the safe options are the florals
But my favourites are the yellow lace and the nude net dress....but I have no idea what style shoes to wear with them!

That's my favourite too Hazey - it's the most expensive one though. I also don't have a clue about shoes to wear with it!

Sums me up.. Champagne taste on a cider budget! Grin

Could go well with sandles similar to the ones you posted in white or nude?

AIMGA · 15/06/2017 18:58

Gaaaaah! It's now out of stock in my size. I'm now down to the two floral print dresses and the yellow lace..I'm going to pester DH for his opinion too!!
