Which home IPL should I get - if any?

I've been hearing about home IPL machines and am considering getting one. I am very pale with brown/black hair.

I would want to use it on legs, face (tash), bikini line and... hands and feet Blush Sad.

I hate being hairy and hate being stubbly. I have very sensitive skin and struggle to shave my bikini line as it gets so uncomfortable. I can't even begin to think about waxing it!

I do wax my tash (not often enough!) and sometimes my eyebrows, but usually pluck.

I have attempted waxing my own legs... And oh my god!... I ended up carefully peeling the wax off the 'wrong' way to get it the fuck off of me!

So the questions are:

Does IPL at home work?
Do you think it would be good for me?
Does it hurt enough that i wouldn't do it?
Which one do you recommend? (budget about 200 quid)

and - in a money saving twist - could DP use it around his beard line?

I have seen a homedics one for about 80quid - anyone used that?

Thank you for reading my rambling!

I have a Lumea. Absolutely love it. I've got the one with a cord as it was slightly cheaper and gets rid of the faff of having to decide whether to charge it or not.

Like you I'm pale with very dark hair and it's worked brilliantly. I used to have to shave my legs every day but after 5 or 6 sessions with the lumea every other week my hair regrowth is minimal to none. I didn't really experience any pain. In the first couple of sessions I maybe had 3 or 4 flashes that caused a slightly sharp pin prick type sensation but I wouldn't describe it as painful esp when compared to epilating or waxing. I can't comment on other brands but I love my lumea!

I have a Lumea SC2006, I'd recommend it. I've gone from needing to shave my legs pretty much every day to once or twice a week. The hair's much finer. I'm sure if I remembered to use it more than once every 4 months it'd be even better! It takes about 45 minutes to zap both legs. I'm complete wuss when it comes to waxing - tried it once, never again - but the Lumea doesn't hurt. Only really annoying gotcha is you have to use it at least every 6 months and recharge it or the battery can completely die and then it's broken.

Ok, thank you! That's interesting about the charging penguin, I didn't know that.

It's just such a lot of money - I'm scared of wasting it!
