I've run out of my usual and fancy a change. Any recommendations to help me stop looking like I've been punched in the face and make me look a little less old and haggard..

Tia

What is your usual and how old are you?

Crochita · 12/06/2017 11:16

I've introduced m&s formula range. So far so good.

Both lovely to use and I buy a lot of products from the cheapest to the dearest.

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/06/2017 11:17

I was using madara which was expensive and did feel nice it just didn't quite give me any kind of glow or improved look. I'm 37 (nearly)

Burts bees is 3 for 2 in boots at the minute so thought i'd give it a go.

I usually buy the high end, beauty counter stuff as I have odd skin, have stuck with the same brand for years, but recently not been as happy with it.. Nivea and the like really don't work for me.

Anyway converted to the burts bees. Heavy enough to feel properly moisturised (i'm mid 40's, but not so much i feel like a grease slick). No petroleum so skin is so much betterz

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/06/2017 11:20

Does your skin feel a bit firmer/look healthier?

The creams in aldi get great reviews. I use temple spa range and love it.

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/06/2017 12:24

Thank you :)

I am a total convert to L'Occitane Divine.

£££s but online you always get loads of freebies with it and a pot lasts me 6 mths. On 6th pot now and can't see me changing any time soon.

I have tried everything in the past from cheapo Superdrug creams, to Dior and Chanel and I just love this. The texture, how well it moisturises, everything. Love it.

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/06/2017 15:04

Which website do you use for it where you get the freebies:o

OP posts:
VintagePerfumista · 12/06/2017 15:06

Direct from L'Occitane

They always have "if you spend £40 you get X, Y and Z" going on, or I look for codes. The cream is about £60 so you always fit in their offer category (and so you should!!)

VintagePerfumista · 12/06/2017 15:09

Sheesh, £78 at the moment....

You can often get the travel size pots or sample sachets on ebay. They can work out loads cheaper- I once got 30ml of samples for 10 euro. Might be an idea to try samples first as it has a particular fragrance- I have grown to love it, but it is quite strong!

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/06/2017 15:54

[Shock]

I'm going to have to do some investigating....

Heard great things about a brand called The Ordinary. High quality ingredients, affordable prices. Have a look on YouTube for reviews.

ggirl · 12/06/2017 17:15

Voila the dog's bollocks of creams

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/06/2017 17:39

Geez bow rich are all of you:o

Will check out the ordinary thanks!!!

I would love to he able to afford those prices I really would. The reviews are really good

I've tried everything from Dollar Store creams to Creme De La Mer but my current miracle revelation is mixing Nivea blue pot with Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tanning Oil and applying overnight, my skin has never looked as good, glowing and dewy. I do have very dry skin though.
I also love the Korean brand Missha, their Time Revolution range is amazing, the night repair ampoule in the pinky/purple bottle is a dupe for Esteem Lauder's advanced night repair serum stuff, and I think the Missha one is much better quality. You can get packs of samples of Missha really cheap from RoseRoseShop and other Korean Beauty websites. Their Immortal Youth range is also amazing.

In fairness all of the Missha products I've tried have made an astounding difference to my skin, the first time I tried a sample of Immortal Youth cream I put it on at night and nearly collapsed in shock the next morning when I looked in the mirror, I've never known a brand to make so much visible difference so quickly Grin

RhythmAndStealth · 12/06/2017 18:19

Lily Lolo is good, think the night cream is best. I use it both day and night. £20 a pot and you just need a tiny smudge so it lasts ages.

Agree with Loup that an oil sunscreen can have a fab effect in addition to face cream. Using Acorelle natural sun oil as my facial sunscreen just now and my skin has a golden glow from it.

ggirl · 12/06/2017 18:25

OP ..I can't afford that cream either .
I flit between super drug and clarins when I'm flush.
Depends on whether you have dry, dehydrated or combination cream.

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/06/2017 19:51

Wow you lot are making it so hard for me to chose...

@LoupGarou

Where is the best/cheapest place to get the missha

OP posts:
LoupGarou · 12/06/2017 20:06

Giles I'm in the US but I always use RoseRoseShop, the website was recommended on the Korean Beauty thread on here and friends in the UK use the website too and love it.

www.roseroseshop.com

Here's a link to their current sample offers... www.roseroseshop.com/sample

Here's a link to their Missha brand page www.roseroseshop.com/missha

By the way, Tony Moly products are great too, the banana face wash and peach hand cream are particular favourite of mine.

DameDeDoubtance · 12/06/2017 20:41

I like Cosrx rice cream, also their honey one. You can't go too wrong with Cerave PM cream, cheap as chips and packed full of Niacinamide.

I layer so by the time I get to my cream I just want it to act as an occlusive layer, I normally use some oil last thing at night too.

Bloody love skincare. Grin

TheMightyMing · 12/06/2017 21:25

I use Aldi creams and I think they are excellent.

VintagePerfumista · 13/06/2017 06:38

I also dabble in Korean stuff (love skincare too, almost as much as perfume...I walk in holey shoes to have my perfume/cream fix Grin) and this thread has reminded me I want to try the ampoule thingummy. I need to find time to reread the threads as I've got lost by the wayside a bit. (currently have a tube of something Korean that arrived and I can't even remember what it's for Grin

Btw, to offset my Occitane face, I have a rigorously Astral blue pot neck and decollete. Even better than Nivea blue pot IMO as it is less gloppy so absorbs easily. I use that as well when my face is very dry.

Sorry for hijack OP! I've also remembered another one I rate- NY Frankincense Nourishing. Used it for years when I was in my 30s and it really made a difference.

P1nkP0ppy · 13/06/2017 06:44

Good old Nivea Q10 (with factor 15) for day and Nivea Essentials night cream. I have tried over the years the big names and these two beat them hollow.
Frequently they're on offer in Boots or Superdrug so the night cream is well under £5 and the day cream under £10.
I'm 63 and my skin's never been better!

BusterGonad · 13/06/2017 07:00

I'm currently finishing up a pot of Astral and my skin looks wonderful and dewy! Before that I had The Body Shop vitamin e day cream but nothing compares to the hydration of Astral.
