I've run out of my usual and fancy a change. Any recommendations to help me stop looking like I've been punched in the face and make me look a little less old and haggard..

I drooling almost at the thought of new creams and also watching the super shoppers ripping apart face creams.
I've got Aldi soy serum currently and like it but hate all my moisturisers. Got Avon one and a Botanics one and Olay basic stuff but hate them all. Used to like Liz Earle and last time I ordered the Avon collagen one its texture was like the Elemis and fabulous but now really thick and doesn't sink in.
Wish I were richer...

BusterGonad · 13/06/2017 21:02

I difference than Loup thanks for clearing that up! 😂

BusterGonad · 13/06/2017 21:02

No not I

LoupGarou · 13/06/2017 21:15

You're welcome Buster Smile

Allice · 13/06/2017 21:37

I never knew that divine was a nightcream! You learn something new every day!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 13/06/2017 21:55

Oh hang on, I actually looked it up. I've only ever used the non SPF one, but would never use it for day time.

They also do a lighter version with SPF, I didn't know about that one.

Dancergirl · 13/06/2017 22:08

ggirl funnily enough the Elemis cream had a fab review in the Sunday times last weekend. I was thinking of trying it but £80??!

Allice · 13/06/2017 22:24

I checked the l'occitaine website too and saw the one with SPF. To be fair my husband bought it for me originally but I can't see anything on their site that states it's a night cream.

Gileswithachainsaw · 13/06/2017 22:53

Oh god this is getting harder to decide now I was almost settled

The best way to try Elemis (and some other brands) is qvc as you can use and return (you have to pay postage). It's a good guarantee to have as you get enough time to be sure you like something or no quibble return it for a refund. TSVs are usually good and/or easy pay options.

SenseiWoo · 14/06/2017 00:09

My night cream is Elizabeth Arden Good Night's Sleep (bought cheaply at The Original Factory Shop) which is lovely: rich, scented and old-fashioned.

Otherwise I tend to use whatever I find at TKMaxx.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 14/06/2017 06:08

Another vote for Elemis here. I have combination/normal skin and it's lovely stuff. Bought mine with a 20% voucher last time though.

Serums should be doing the heavy lifting in your routine -moisturiser isn't so important so I wouldn't worry in the slightest if you go for a cheaper one. M&S formula range is mid price and really good.

Just a heads up about Astral -it's packed with lanolin which is why it's great for dry skin but lots of people can't tolerate it. I've got asbestos skin, so I'm fine but a lot of people come out in rashes and spots.

BusterGonad · 14/06/2017 06:48

I think my skin must love be lanolin, Grineven though it's generally sensitive! Confused

murphys · 14/06/2017 08:05

I think its a personal thing really. What works for one doesn't always work for another... thinking coconut oil here... everyone swears by it, but if I use it, its awful, my skin looks awful, my hair looks like an oil slick..

But I am a bit intrigued by the blue pot Nivea thing. I have one but I am in SA... so what is the difference in them? I couldn't use that on my face either, but have used on my neck every now and then when it gets that crepey look....

BusterGonad · 14/06/2017 08:18

Murphys the Nivea blue in Europe has different ingredients to the one sold in the USA (I think) the USA one is made in Mexico and it is apparently waxier. The one in the uk is made in Germany and is often compared to Creme De La Mer, they have very similar ingredients, minus the seaweed! I'm as intrigued as you are, but if you google it a lot of people prefer the European one. Also google the daily mail Nivea vs Creme De La Mer. It's very interesting, one of there beauty editors used both creams, on each half and the results are interesting. The dermatologist said Nivea was in fact better! Grin

BusterGonad · 14/06/2017 08:22

I can't link but have a look on thenotice.net (an ode to German Nivea cream). Grin

murphys · 14/06/2017 08:28

Ooh thanks Buster, I have just had a look at mine and it is also the German one. It is one of those tiny little 10ml tins, and it was still unopened. Just used it now, I do smell rather lovely... Grin

It will go into my handbag now.. winter here now so everything is drying up, including me....

I will do a search, thank you.

BusterGonad · 14/06/2017 09:59

I'm in horrendous heat and the thicker the cream I use the better my skin is, it just drinks it up! The little tins are so cute and great for flights!

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/06/2017 13:52

Well I've ordered some missha from Amazon but it's going to take a couple if weeks to arrive I think. A few days at least.

Would love to try these top of the range ones but they are out if my price range currently. I will certainly he revisiting this thread many times as I have a few here to try!!!

Ironically I found some old jojoba oil I ordered probably years back in the cupboard and I've started using that while I wait for my delivery and so far it's not bad Blush

I knew I could rely on MN Grin

I feel quite embarrassed that I'm so behind with this stuff. Blush

Well, now. I have a few creams on the go. Haved had a small trial pot of the L'occitane Divine one but to be honest think the best thing in the range is the lotion. I have tried the Elemis Marine cream -not that impressed.

What I really like is Una Brennan Rose day cream, Bare Minerals - can't remember which but it has a japanese herb amongst its ingredients. I think it is their newest cream? Feels fresh and lovely on the skin. Also love Decleor I have the Aurabsolu with Jasmine. That is also lovely. I tend to put a serum and or oil underneath these. I also occasionally like Astral but sometimes my skin is not into it.

I also got an antiwrinkle cream from Lidl which is rather nice. I also have a Korean CC cream which is good. Erborian?? I think. Another nice CC is the Laroche Posay one. It is tinted and softens the redness of my cheeks. I also love Nivea Q10, use the Boots serums, the B range from Superdrug and their Vit E range as well. I just happen to have a few more expensive ones to go through at the moment but don't believe you need to spend £££. I have used Boots and Marks & Spencers ranges in the past as well as Clarins.

valeriej43 · 14/06/2017 18:07

Another fan here of Aldis cream, i use the Caviar night and day cream, my skin looks really good since using it
The effect is it makes your skin feel tight, but doesnt dry t up land i have quite dry skin to start with, people often comment on my skin and im 74
The reviws a when it first came out were better than the real caviar cream, its only £6-99 and you dont need much
Also trying, nip n tuck Dragons blood,on offer at half price when i got it at Superdrug
The Missha sounds lovely, might try that
