Work trousers for summer, what do you wear?

I usually wear a dress and tights throughout winter but looking for some trousers to see me through summer - my office air con is really too cold for bare legs and I'm very pasty.

I work in the City in a corporate environment but don't need to be super smart - just not jeans. I'm a size 14 and apple shape, 5ft6 and never managed to successfully pull off wide legged trousers.

Would love to know what others wear.

Gap bi stretch or Boden Richmonds.

The Gap are way better as the Richmonds do tend to go baggy round the knee.

They are (I think) available in both full length and as ankle grazers. Aways loads of online discount.

Cropped black trousers from H&M, wide legged cropped and some culottes from M&S. Or my usual black and grey trousers with more summery tops.

I've just bought Gap bi-stretch after seeing them mentioned on here so much. Only worn them a couple of times, so don't know how well they will wash/wear but so far, I LOVE them. They are light, comfortable and easy to wear but look reasonably smart with a jacket and flats.

I like Gap slim cropped this year. Nice length on me. Cheap as chips too.

Like you, I don't work in a very formal environment but I can't wear jeans. nearly every summer I buy two pairs of cheapish wide linen-mix trousers (Primark often do them but there are more upmarket versions too), one black and one white, and wear them into the ground. By the end of the summer the black ones are often a bit faded and the white may be marked with sun cream but if they get me through till autumn I'm not unhappy. I also wear capris but I'm not sure if they'd be suitable for the conditions you described.

Another vote for gap bi stretch, they're fab.

Cheap to start with, but even better with a 40% discount code (sign up to their emails and you won't have to wait long for one!)

I love the bi-stretch but find them too hot for summer.
Love the slim cropped this year. The length is ahem fashion speakConfused so on trend.

H&M do cotton skinny trousers that are quite similar to the gap ones, but come in a wider range of colours.

MelanieCheeks · 15/06/2017 23:15

Cropped stretchy things from M&S, worn with a long enough top to come to hip length.

Lunaballoon · 16/06/2017 07:11

These. Love them. Very lightweight and comfortable. Highly recommended.

I was trying to find a link there - today I'm in a pair of olive green ankle length straight-legs from Jaegar. They're a sort of silky material with a jersey stripe down the side in the same colour.

I wear them with a relaxed jacket in the same colour as a sort of unstructured trouser suit.....Wink

Another one here voting Gap bi stretch! Bought 2 pairs recently due to seeing lots of recommendations on here and they are perfect - comfy and smart.

Rioja123 · 16/06/2017 18:54

I wear a lot of floral or patterned trousers
