Ok, am I mad to buy these bags?

Can't decide between Mulberry small Bayswater or small satchel in oak: £850 and £895 respectively.

I want a classic that will last forever and not date. Have a black Bayswater (years old) that looks beautiful still.

Should I buy one?

Tan... was a couple of years ago but they often have special offers there.

Ive just ordered the Bayswater backpack in oak. Due to back issues I need a backpack and had been sulking as couldn't find a nice one.
Saw the Bayswater and I love it. Now going to sell my non back pack branded bags to replace funds.

Although if I could have brought a tote it would have been this www.mulberry.com/gb/shop/women/bags/totes/bayswater-tote-oak-small-classic-grain

Yes a bright colour would be fab for summer but oak will be wearable any season and goes with most colours.

I HAVE THE BAG AND I LOOOOOVE IT!

It's beautiful, petite, but big enough. Gorgeous in-treated, vintage looking leather.

So pleased - thanks for all the advice.

Picture? I'm gearing up for my bonus in July to buy the double zip Bayswater in the oxblood type colour. Can't wait!

leghoul · 16/06/2017 16:41

Mulberry bags are heavy and the quality has gown downhill
I'd buy neither and go on holiday or get a new iPad Pro

leghoul · 16/06/2017 16:43

I just don't think bags bought with intention of lasting years actually do often last years with heavy use, unless you don't care if it gets spills on, pens leaking, etc.
Mulberry production changed a few years ago I think, right around the time when they got the very shiny metal on them.
Disclaimer: I got rid of my Bayswater, I have other expensive bags, I don't like them and instead mainly use a child's backpack

leghoul · 16/06/2017 16:44

Clearly did not RTFT!
I preferred the satchel of the 2

Cellardoor23 · 16/06/2017 17:42

Glad you like your bag op Smile I have the second one you linked. I bought it second hand though on the finer things Aberdeen website about a year ago. So a couple hundred off the original price.

Still looks pretty good considering I use it most days. Unlike my JL leather bag where the zip broke after a month.
