Matte eyeshadows

Hi, I'm looking for some matte eyeshadows. I'm particularly looking for pastel colours (light blues, pinks, greens etc), dark colours (same colours but dark not bright), and then like neutral mattes too.

Any recommendations for pallettes or anything? I try to only buy from brands that don't test on animals.

Urban decays naked palette.. They have naked 1, 2, 3 and also the naked basics.. Have a look online

Comingoutoftheshadows · 11/06/2017 22:17

There are only a few mattes in each of the naked palettes and the colours are all neutral so I wouldn't recommend them.

Have a look at Morphe palettes they have every colour you can imagine. I'm not sure about the animal testing I'm afraid...

Have a look at Kat Von d, she has a matte pastel palette, you can buy online at Debenhams if your local one doesn't sell it

Mummyoftwo91 · 11/06/2017 22:26

She is also a vegan and cruelly free brand btw, a tad pricey but amazing quality

ZacharyQuack · 12/06/2017 01:34

Kat Von D - Pastel Goth palette is all pastel mattes. Shade and Light is all neutral mattes.

Amazing quality and cruelty free. Reviews here and here

For dark colours, try Zoeva Matte Spectrum. Zoeva have some other matte or pastel palettes that might be worth a look.

raindropstea · 12/06/2017 08:24

Makeupgeek does some nice matte shadows and it's a cruelty free line.

needastrongone · 12/06/2017 08:46

UD are the best quality but there's not too much matt in there, apart from their ultimate basics palette.

I could ditch all my other palettes and be totally fine with this.

MAC have some great ones too.

Meadow just realised it's you!!

This cheapo one from Superdrug is pretty good.

MAC Pastel Times Nine is gorgeous but they're not all matte.

Hi need Grin

Thanks ladies!

I have UD naked and I love it, but there's hardly any mattes, and the most pale neutral shades I've used up already as they go with everything kind of thing (like sin & virgin & naked). I am a big UD fan but when I was looking online they don't seem to do many matte colours.

I have a neutral-coloured MUA palette and I'm not impressed with the mattes there, I don't think they are very pigmented nor do they last very long. Their sparkly ones are a lot more pigmented and last longer but not impressed with the mattes.

MUR are brilliant. I have several of their palettes and find I use them far more often than my Naked palettes.

Ozzde · 12/06/2017 10:17

What about ELF? They are vegan and cruelty free.

Ollivander84 · 12/06/2017 11:32

Second makeup geek. The pigment is amazing. Sold on beauty bay and if you google any of the names you can get swatches up

SorrelForbes · 12/06/2017 13:30

5 COULEURSHIGH FIDELITY COLOURS & EFFECTS EYESHADOW PALETTE by Dior in Dream (757) is very nice and totally matt.

Auspiciouspanda · 12/06/2017 13:31

ABH single matte shadows are beautiful

raindropstea · 12/06/2017 13:56

I've wanted to try the ABH shadows for a while now. They look stunning. Are they smooth and apply well? I can't stand chalky eye shadows.

The tarte in bloom palette is stunning and has a lot of nice mattes. I bought it in the states and have been wearing it nearly every day since.

Sciurus83 · 12/06/2017 14:34

needastrongone has posted the naked basics which I can also confirm is a fantastic matte palette, for pastels it has to be Kat Von D

Whatthefoxgoingon · 12/06/2017 15:28

I custom make my palettes now, so nothing is wasted as I have no dud colours. I have a Nars pro palette but you can also customise others like Mac and Inglot. It's not the cheap option but I much prefer being able to choose my colours.

mrsfwentworth · 12/06/2017 17:06

Another vote for the Urban Decay Naked Basics palettes. Also, Mac paintpots in Painterly and Groundwork are nice neutral cream eye shadows with matte finish.

MeadowHay · 15/06/2017 16:26

Thanks everyone.

I can't find a matte pastel one for Kat Von D on the Debenhams website? And the Shade and Light one has now gone out of stock too -.- that's pricey for me though...although I did just get a gift of £20 from a great auntie so could put that towards a new palette I guess.

I quite like the look of the Makeup Revolution Essentials Matte 2, I'm just worried I'll buy it and it will be crap like the MUA one I bought was. But then it's only £4 so...might give it a go. Then if it's crap might buy the UD Naked Basics one.

But still struggling with dark colours and pastel colours hmm.

Never heard of ABH before!

I think Dior test on animals so rule that out, sorry. And same for Nars etc although always happy to be corrected!
