Wedding guest outfit for short, dumpy 40 something help!

OK style gurus I desperately need some help.

I've put on a lot of weight over the past 10 months and none of last years nice outfits fit. I have two weddings coming up - one evening only, one day guest. I have to travel to one with the family so cannot take too much space as we are combining it with a couple of weeks holiday. I am also very skint. I am not conventionally shaped and I am only 4ft 11, I am also not very confident about my body shape and most things make me look 5 months pregnant (see waist measurement below!). I also suffer from IBS which is aggravated by hard waistbands so I tend to buy elasticated waisted things.

If it helps, my measurements are:
Bust - 103cm/40.5inches
Waist - 103cm/40.5inches
Hips - 124cm/49inches

So any suggestions would be appreciated! TIA

What do those measurements equate to in dress size?

I'm wearing this Jacques vert petite dress to weddings this summer, I'm 5ft 0 & size 16-18. No waistband so no problem there, it is £111 though, is that do-able?

Thanks Chewbecca. Unfortunately, that is out of my price range, I guess below £50 is more like what I can do and even that will need to go on the credit card. It's a shame though, coz that is a gorgeous dress. You will look amazing Smile

In terms of dress sizes, that is part of the problem. For example, looking at the Jacques Vert sizing chart I am a size 16 bust but size 22 waist and hips, so it becomes difficult to get something that fits over all areas and looks good for cheap! Too much Cake and Biscuit

They will all come to a decent knee length on you because you are petite but I think the cut of these dresses will work like that. What do you think?

Flossy sorry, I couldn't get all your links to work but I loved the Little Mistress floral dress, unfortunately a bit out of my budget but if a sale comes on in the next couple of weeks!!

FauxFox, I hadn't thought of Asos so will have a good look around their website. I really liked the embellished black dress but not so sure for a wedding after the previous thread about wearing black to weddings! I also liked the yellow floral but they don't have in my size at the moment, but I will look around more of their stuff.

Thank you all so much so far, it has been a great help Smile
