Summer tops

I am going on a hen day and evening next Saturday and suddenly find myself with nothing to wear. The last time I was on an evening out was in the winter, I am over 40 and practically live in jeans and t shirts as I work from home. The only smart stuff I have is reserved for meetings and is usually very work-like (blazer, smart top, black trousers).

As the weather is so unpredictable and I hate feeling cold, I want to wear smart jeans and a nice summery top, but everything I see is off the shoulder (no way), or too busy. I am a size 8/10 and have dark hair. I thought it would be easy but I am not finding anything. Surely it can't be this difficult?

I bought a few tops from FatFace recently. I never buy from there and was really surprised at the quality. I had to return as the sizing is bigger than standard but have reordered. I bought as daywear/casual restaurant tops to wear with espadrilles but think they could be dressed up with smart jeans and heels.

This is quite nice. Esprit have lots of summery tops/blouses at the mo.

This in the pink would look nice? Though all the colours look good.

I had this dilemma recently myself. If you're not looking to spend a lot, Primark, Asda and Tu at Sainsbury's have some nice stuff at the moment. Lots of nice, bright citrus colours that look good with dark hair and a tan and you can wear with jeans.

Never considered Esprit before, looks like they have some quite nice stuff.
There's a Fat Face near me, I shall pop in and have a look too.
Thanks!
