Prescription sunglasses anyone?

I am hoping to get a pair each for three family mambers, DS has scratched his really badly (he's -2.5 ish), DD has just gone up in prescription to -1.5 and DH has slight astigmatism but it's a long drive so ideally I'd like to get him a pair as well. We're going away in just over two weeks but do all have recent prescriptions. I've seen some online places where you can get a pair for £30 upwards, has anyone tried any of these suppliers please? Ideally I'd like to pay as little as possible and get DS some prescription goggles as well. I've had a look on the high street where Boots start at £90 and Specsavers do two pairs for £69 but it's the same prescription. I'm not expecting great quality, if they last the holiday I shall consider it money well spent!

DH used Glasses Direct for prescription sunglasses. He chose Rayban last time but I would recommend a decent brand. You get what you pay for. They have a lot of choice. I wouldn't just expect glasses to last a few weeks. DHs last two years!

I got some prescription sunglasses from selectspecs.com. I also used them for my normal glasses and they are fab. My sunglasses cost £30 plus postage and they arrived in about a week. My normal glasses cost me £6 plus postage this includes prescription lens and frames and is such a bargain that I bought a few pairs in different colours. It's abit risky doing it online but you just enter your prescription, it gives you the measurements of the glasses so you can make sure they will fit you but checking against your own glasses. I don't think I'd ever pay full price in an opticians now.

I got glasses and sunglasses from glassesdirect also! Been using them for a few years now and have always been happy!

Asda do prescription sunglasses for children for £15, if your nearest store has an opticians in it.

Costco sell prescription goggles for £30 for children.

I don't think either option will be any good if you are going away in two weeks, but it's worth considering for the future

Forgot to add, I think it's illegal for companies to dispense prescription glasses for children under 16 on line.

Yes, I have left it a little too late! I asked in specsavers today about getting sunglasses lenses in their £25 complete glasses range and she said it'd be an extra £24, bringing them to £49 a pair. I've got the children hunting out old pairs of glasses and I'm going to take them in tomorrow and ask if it's possible to send them off for reglazing or putting on a tinted coat. The lady on their live help didn't know but said it was usually 3-5 days turnaround from the shop and obviously they fit them for you and there's no postage. The children, clearly, are lazy oiks and I'll have to go in to search out the old frames whereas they'd rather I paid for new ones!

My DS is +7.00 so I'm just a little bit obsessed with his eyes and I'm always on the hunt for deals!!!

I'm back with the results of sweating around high street opticians! Specsavers will coat in-house so if you have their glasses (without anti reflective coating) you can have them tinted and anti reflection coated in the same day for £24. Boots will send frames off for new lenses but it is more expensive than getting their new sunglasses and takes longer. Vision Express is more expensive than everywhere! DH is going in tomorrow for a free contact lense trial at Boots (as long as Vision Express, Kensington, email his prescription through in time, the local one couldn't give us it!). Specsavers couldn't even tell us his prescription as he'd had his glasses made up by them but not had the test with them IYSWIM.
