Whistles sizing – and does anyone have this dress?

I am thinking of ordering this dress from the Whistles sale but I’m not sure what size. I’m a bit wary of the phrase ‘body-con’ and it’s pure silk so there won’t be any stretch.

Had anyone tried the dress on, or does anyone have it? Or have an idea of Whistles sizing generally?

I’m a comfortable 10 in dresses from Warehouse, H&M, and Dorothy Perkins, but I have 30E boobs and a 27.5 inch waist, so if the Whistles size guide is accurate a 10 might be a squeeze.

I do. Sizing is quite generous. There is no stretch to it so I wouldn't call it bodycon!

I have Whistles dresses in similar styles and I think you'll be fine with a 10. I'm a 30FF and usually take an 8 or 10 in Whistles. I'd say the sizing is fairly generous.

Lovely dress, by the way!

Super - thanks!

The Whistles website describes the dress as bodycon but it's not my idea of that style. I was worried they might mean it is very close-fitting and so perhaps too small. It sounds like I should be okay for sizing though :)

Silk can be made into stretchy jersey fabric, maybe that is what they mean?

I've got a similar style one from a few years back and the silk actually does have some Lycra added so it's worth checking the details on the website. I would say that style is fairly true to size and super flattering. Could you not order a 10 and a 12?

Filiboom · 09/06/2017 19:41

I'd go for both as well. Ive just returned a Whistles silk blouse in a 10 for being too tight (I'm a 32E) and a pair of trousers in a 10 for being too big.... Have also returned a size 8 and a size 10 Luna dress - both fit, but the style was utterly unflattering on me (they're the looser fit dresses). Not a great haul!

When Whistles work on me, I love them - it's a lot of trial and error though! (They do do free delivery and returns....)

Beautiful dress though.

Oh, online shopping is so convenient when it works and so inconvenient when it doesn't. After all your help I tried to order the 10 then when the confirmation came through found I'd clicked on 12 instead! Blush perhaps it's fate.

Well I'm a 10 in warehouse, a 12 in H&M and a 10 in whistles. I'd just order the 10, as my experience is whistles is generous and even if the 10 turns out too small, then the 12 would probably be too big anyway.

AnotheBloodyChinHair · 09/06/2017 20:45

I'm a size 10 everywhere but size 12 in Whistles dresses!!
