Talk to me about nails

Hello.

I am a complete nail novice but, since I became pregnant, for the first time ever my nails are in really good shape. They are all a decent length and I would like to go and have a manicure of some sort.

I don't want anything that I will then have to have removed at some point but would like something that will last a reasonably long time with the option of having them redone if funds allow!

What are my options? I am clueless!

Nothing's going to last over 3 weeks before needing a touch up.

If the nails strong you can use shellac & buy a remover kit to soak off at home or a gel polish but they take longer to soak off.

If you want something you can leave on you can have a hard gel or acrylic overlay with normal varnish, after three weeks they can buff the colour off & fill the new growth in, then repaint.

You should look for a salon that uses a system eg OPI, CND, calgel etc & prides itself on hygiene.

I have a thin gel (LCN) overlay painted onto my own nails - because I'm very lazy and can't be arsed doing my own manicures but I am a complete perfectionist and can't bear any chips or scuffs...so gel it has to be Smile

I have them refilled every 2 weeks.

You could just have gels for ten days. That's what I do, as I get bored of colours easily. You will need to have it removed but usually I go back to the salon and then just take them off but ask for a regular re-varnish, not gel, so I'm not doing it repeatedly.
