Party dress for skinny 8 year old

Usually there are lots of nice things, but I can't find anything this year. Ideally she'd like something in bright colours, below knees/mid-calf, that can be a best dress for a bit but can then become more of an everyday one - so no sequins. Ok for cartwheels and skipping.
Needs to be long - she's tall - but not too boxy - she's v narrow.
Ideas??

Have you checked out Boden? My daughter is younger but also very narrow and I've found that the sizes work well if I get the size that starts with the previous year (so, 7-8 in your daughter's case).

Lots of sizes no longer available but really sweet stuff there including jumpsuits and playsuits which could be a great option for an 8 year old who can manage the awkwardness of loo visits in a jumpsuit.

My daughter has this as her party dress and this as her summer day dress. Both are great on her frame and just adorable.

Boden is always a great bet for dresses.

Also have a look at M&S. They have lots of bright but non-sequined party dresses that would quickly become everyday summer dresses. I like these:

I also think boden is a good option and most of the dresses can be dressed up or down. Otherwise you could use a local dressmaker. We have one near us who makes party dresses up for really reasonable prices.

Dunno why, but nothing at Boden appeals this year. The Lands End ones are nice, but DD has vetoed them. Sometimes POP has nice stuff, but she seems to be growing out of it. Where are the lovely brightly coloured tough summer dresses??
