Smart/casual summer jacket

I am desperately looking for a smart/casual jacket for the summer. Not a blazer (too work-y), not a mac (ditto), not denim (too casual), not leather (too winter-y), not a parka (too casual again).

I'm looking for something I can just chuck on with jeans or a dress, that is smart enough for lunch out, but not 'dressy' and ideally not longer than hip length.

Any ideas?!

Bought this from cos a few weeks ago:

Pretty much what you describe, water resistant too so great for the rainy weather!

Hmm tricky brief. A 'shacket' perhaps? m.topshop.com/en/tsuk/category/clothing-427/jackets-coats-2390889/shacket/N-86tZ20tyZdgl?currentPage=2

I have a cream suedette biker jacket that sounds like it fits your brief. I got it from RI last year, but I bet there are similar this year.

Mint Velvet, too long? they have others that might fit the bill

That Cos one is great but the colour might be a bit 'out there' for me! I am quite a boring dresser...

The river island might be the ticket, I can imagine that with clothes I have so that's a good start.
