Has anyone bought anything from them? I keep getting adverts from them on FB and like the look of the clothes but it is a USA-based company so I am worried that I would be hit with a big customs fee.

I am actually going to buy an item today. I looked into the website and they use Paypal. I've ordered from probably 4 other similar clothing companies who uses Paypal as a form of payment, mostly from Asia/China and hadn't had any big issues about shipping fees - most are free and the only draw back, it sometimes takes longer than usual to get clothes. You get what you pay for and some of the clothes are cute but you need to take care of it since it's not high end materials.

Do not buy from this company. the clothes are absolutely awful!!!!!! its some kind of scam. Search the internet first I wish I had. I have just lost £50, don't think I will ever get my money back.

Let's see what happens. I use online stores that use PayPal mostly but also read some reviews. I haven't had any issues other than it takes longer to get. Again you get what you pay for. Its like forever21 material cheap and inexpensive. Just wash delicately to last longer. Either way Ill post the outcome of my order from Burlap Apparel.

I ordered the Vintage Yellow Dress from Burlap as it looked absolutely gorgeous and I thought I could trust a US based company.

My dress arrived today from China. It's faults are:-

  1. Too short
  2. Totally see-through.
  3. Extremely poor stitching, some areas not even stitched.
  4. Pockets sewn in backwards.
  5. At the back of the neck there is a button but no button hole/loop.
  6. Even allowing for colour difference from the PC to reality, the dress is not the mustard yellow, more a violent scary yellow.

I've since discovered the image of the yellow dress has been stolen from a fashion blogger who only wears expensive designer clothes and it would seem Burlap have tried (badly) to copy it.

They are now ignoring my emails to refund but trust me, I will be on at them until they submit and give me a full refund.

If anyone is interested in the monstrosity I have been sent, I will take a picture of it on and post it here for you so you won't make the same mistake I did!

Burlap is the weirdest name for a clothes retailer...it's what Americans call hessian/sack material. The name alone would put me off looking at what they sold!

Softtouch03 · 09/07/2017 10:26

Don't buy. It's a scam. I just had 2 items delivered. The quality of them both is very low and, for what they are, the price is way too high. I regret ordering from this company. Never again.

Softtouch03 · 09/07/2017 10:29

I had the same dress (plus another item - a white 'lace' shirt) delivered 2 days ago. I completely agree with what you say. I don't remember ever buying clothes of such low quality before. I'm never going to wear these two items and I'll never order again from this company.

So i received the faux leather looking black dress and the price for it is not worth it. It fit me well and looks good from afar but the feel of it is like plastic... so basically anything from Asia, you will need to understand, its not going to be the best material especially the cheap price you pay for. Don't think ill buy from them again but check out Shein or SammyDress if you want cheap cute clothes. Remember you get what you pay for. Before I had kids Nordstrom, Express, Bebe and Macys was my go to clothing places now with 4 kids, its Forever 21 and these online stores.
