Help me find a stylish waterproof jacket?

Does such a thing exist?! Not too 'mumsy' but still actually waterproof? And not like I've given up on style (as mentioned in a recent thread) / plan to climb a mountain later. I'm 32 if that makes any difference. Currently on maternity leave with DD (6 weeks) so lots of pram walking. I don't like toggles. Please help!

I have this from Warehouse and it is properly waterproof with a decent hood. Not mumsy and no outdoor clothing company logos! Comes in a bright yellow too which is lovely (but I already have a yellow waterproof one from Topshop last year.)

Cakescakescakes · 05/06/2017 18:52

In yellow...

Also this longer red one is slightly different fabric.

Sorry first link should have been the navy one...

I'm looking for one too.

Fat Face have a few. I was looking at this one. I quite like the fact it packs down into a little bag.

HLBug · 05/06/2017 19:15

Ohh I like that Fat Face one User, thanks. Wonder if it is actually warm though, hmm.

Not loving the current trend for bright yellow rain wear - makes me think I should be on a fishing boat somewhere in the North Sea. The navy Warehouse one is ok though - no toggles!

I'd probably buy one that could accommodate a couple of layers (including a jumper).

I have no idea what it looks like on. Was planning on trying one next time I am near Fat Face.

chickflick · 05/06/2017 19:28

seasalt do very nice ones.

HappyGirl86 · 05/06/2017 19:32

I've got two lovely waterproof coats from joules. The material is lovely and it's breathable so you don't feel all sweaty in them when walking.

Iamastonished · 05/06/2017 19:36

The problem with short waterproof jackets is that your legs get soaking wet. Quite frankly, if you want something properly waterproof it needs to be longer otherwise you might as well not bother (or buy waterproof trouser)

HLBug · 05/06/2017 19:42

Oh god lama, waterproof trousers are not an option. Can. You. Imagine.

Just looked at Seasalt- lovely! But so many fecking toggles!! What is with all the toggles?! I love Paddington Bear but he is no style icon.

I know Grin

Seriously I have been caught in rain in short waterproof jackets, and the rain just drips down the jacket and soaks my thighs resulting in cold, wet legs. It is miserable.

DandelionAndBedrock · 05/06/2017 19:47

I was eyeing up coats in Uniqlo last week. I love this longer raincoat but they also have nice short length ones.

HLBug · 05/06/2017 19:55

HappyGirl I have a love/hate relationship with Joules. I love the quality and style but I HATE the floral prints. They are the very definition of mumsy to me.

Off to look at Uniqlo now... no stores near me so would need to order online. Any advice on sizing? I'm normally a 10-12 pre baby but at the moment closer to a 14-16 Blush hence the need to walk in the stupid rain to try and get fit again

I like a lot of the Weirdfish clothing. This waterproof jacket looks quite nice:

The citronella coloured one is nice, too.

I got a really nice Ilse Jacobsen one in winter and I wear it loads and people often comment on it

HLBug · 05/06/2017 20:39

Just googled Ilse Jacobsen mammy and I'm now in love with these wellies! Must focus. Jackets...jackets...do not need wellies...

HL a medium would probably fit you, but I would order a large if you want room for layers underneath. I'm a 14-16 (minus the 14 bit at the moment Blush) and I have large jackets/coats from them. I find the hip area the least generous in terms of sizing. They also have a £10 discount if you sign up to their newsletter, and there generally seems to be a free returns code somewhere in the depths of the internet.

HLBug · 05/06/2017 20:50

mammy I think you've done it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This one looks pretty much perfect. And it's nothing to do with the possibility of the matching wellies. Honest.
