Help! How can I get my hair to do this?

Advice please?! I have serious hair envy! What I can do to make my hair look like this? It's roughly the same colour and length but how do I style it like this? And what products??

Is it in braids on one side?

Looks like thin little dreadlocks to me.

It's just twisted.
Section up your hair get some really good quality stiff wax and (using the wax sparingly) twist the sections smoothing down them with waxed fingers to finish it.

I often back comb the section a like first if I want it to hold all day and to look extra oomphy, I imagine she has done.

It's basically a fake dreadlocks style. I used to wear my gear like that regularly.

Yeah, I was thinking wax and twirling - will prob take ages though?

My sister used to do this as a teen - we called them her "fakelocks".

She did pretty much what *WeAreEternal" suggested and it looked great.

Oh, and it only took 15/20 mins to do.
