GHD Platinum - worth it?

My trusty GHD's that have lasted 12 years are finally on the blink, so need to invest in a new pair.
So 'normal' GHD's are about £100, and these Platinum ones are £165 - has anyone tried them and are they worth the extra?
My hair is fine and I don't straighten every day - but if this next pair is going to last another 12 years I don't mind spending more if they are really good!

No, don't do it. The platinum ones don't heat up the same. I ended up buying cloud nine and they are way better.

Yes. The original creators of ghd created cloud 9, I think.

I got some ghd platinum and was really pleased they broke quickly as they were rubbish compared to my old trusty ghds, exchanged them for the wide plate cloud nines and they are fab

Cloud Nines are brilliant. Heard that new GHDs are nothing like the old ones.

Don't get the platinum ones, I've just sent back a second pair for the same fault. They have lasted 2/3 months. If they fail again, I will be demanding a refund and going for cloud nines

For anyone who has them... I've now been on the website and they have 'original' and 'touch' (?) ones - the second ones are ones that sense when you're trying to straighten your hair and heat up then, and cool down again when you put them down.
Any recommendations on which are best? I feel like probably the normal ones would be fine?
