Help me find a dress for a "big night out" in a pub!

My friend is having her 40th birthday celebration in a local pub and has invited the girls out - the plan is for us all to dress up and go out for cocktails and prosecco. I'm not really a dress up person outside of work, more a jeans with nice top and shoes type. If I was to dress up I'd wear Coast, Ted Baker, possibly Phase Eight but these all seem a bit ott for a pub! I wear lots of dresses for work (mainly from Oasis) so have a real "work" and "not work" opinion on dresses which really isn't helping me find anything. Friend loves Lindy Bop (??) and is a real girlie girl. Any ideas? I'm 5'2 , size 12 and hate my legs and arms so nothing too short or strappy just to add to the mix.

I think I'd go for a plain skater dress, eg like these from ted baker

Worn with simple strappy shoes and hair down - you'll look polished but not overdone next to 'normal' pub goers, but glam enough if you move on to a smarter bar

As you don't want to show legs and arms I doubt the Ted Baker dresses above are what you are looking for (although if I could get down to a size 12 again I'd def be showing both!)

The one advantage of my weird body is that I have the body of someone 5'6 so some short dresses are ok as it's my legs that are short
I do like a skater dress.
